    Mike, are you talking about
    Spoiler
LOL totally didnt see him til just now. I was scouring the level trying to find this mystery NPC, so if it's not I have no idea.

Yup you found him! Just to his left there's some breakable objects.

Actually wait, he's not the close to the lamp. It's a bit of a run. Maybe you spotted someone else? And when I mean NPC it's someone you can talk to. In that area, you're just seeing a door that you can talk to. It's just after the large bonfire area and you run up the stairs on the left. From there, he's straight ahead.

Also, you guys should work on staggering enemies with the firearm. It even works on bosses. Just as they move their arm to swipe, shoot them. A distinct sound should play and they should be kneeled over. You only have about a second to walk up and tap r1 for the critical.

This game is hard as crap. The cleric beast has beaten me about 7 times in a row. I'm going to bed. I'm thinking about starting over and getting the axe instead of the cane

Yeah this game's gonna take some getting used to. I always either played sword and board or a pure magic/miracles build in the souls games. This game has neither spells nor shields as far as I can tell and is much faster paced and much more reliant on dodging.

Are there only 2 lanterns in the whole game? I've been wandering around forever and can't find another one.

The game is tough but you are able to run through areas and the enemies will eventually stop chasing you which is nice.

I downloaded the Bloodborne headset profile and there is a sinister voice saying "BloodBorne" when you choose that preset. It was decent but I still prefer speakers over headsets.

Each area has a lantern I think.

I've killed two bosses and have found five lanterns.

And you're right, much like a Grounded+ play through of The Last Of Us, there are times in this game where it's better for me to just sprint through an area especially when backtracking

You won't see any signs. The host rings a bell and the others ring a smaller bell. It finds someone automatically. I'm not sure what happens if you use an insight to ring the bell, but no one joins. I don't think you get refunded.

Definitely not using the bell till the matchmaking is cleaned up and more people have the resonating bell. Tried using it earlier on and was just wasting insight points.

The cleric beast reveal was awesome. Glad I didn't watch many videos as I wasn't expecting it.

I fought him twice, and the 2nd time I chiseled away about 1/3rd of his health in about 10 minutes and used all 7 of my vials before dying.

I am just 2 handing the axe. I know at some point I am going to want to learn the blunderbuss parry....

                            Re: Bloodborne

So I have already spent more time (hours wise) in this game than I did with my one Souls game attempt (Dark Souls 1), and I freaking love it.

If their mission with the BB line (I assume we will get sequels and a series like the Souls games, but who knows) was to appeal to their Souls fanbase while also getting people like me who appreciate the approach but just couldn't get into the Souls combat, I think they have succeeded greatly. I just finished Dying Light, which is my (at the moment) favorite current gen game, and went straight into this one which looks like it might take over that position quickly. I love the combat, and I lovelovelove the atmosphere/setting.

For those at the beginning just hang in there, once figure out a good weapon for you/upgrade your weapon and character a little you start getting rolling and starting hunting more instead of being hunted.

Someone told me that DS2 had a crazy amount of bonfires(lamps), so that's why lamps are more sporadic in BB? Not sure if that is true or not, maybe one of you could fill me in on that?

My only legit complaint, and it is still minor, is I just wish they had made the matchmaking/multi-player aspect a little more accessible. Using insight points seems a little harsh to me. The game is hard enough, your character is always vulnerable, letting people co-op with a friend at their whim doesn't seem like that bad of a compromise, but who knows, I am not a game dev and am still a newbie in the From game universe so maybe I am wrong?

All that being said, I am probably going to wait until I am on my new game+ playthrough to try any co-op/invading. I might try to get a used strategy guide by that point (as I am sure it will take me quite awhile to get through the first playthrough) to make sure I pick up everything I missed the first time through.

This game, in my humble opinion, is a nice (maybe not giant, but very nice) notch for the PS4 library as far as comparing exclusives between the consoles. I think this game is what I thought The Order would be as far as exclusive importance

I am struggling a little with the parry system as well. I can't figure out if its right when they start to attack or right before they are about to hit you for when you shoot
