Ubisoft plans to introduce a new 'Hardcore' playlist to Rainbow Six Siege next year that offers a "more realistic" experience, the publisher has revealed.

Discussing the new playlist on the game's forums, Ubisoft explained that it had yet to confirm exactly how the playlist will differ to the current 'Casual' and 'Ranked' playlists, but that it was considering reducing the game's HUD, removing teammate outlines and score indicators, and displaying mag count instead of ammo count.

The new Hardcore settings will be available to test in Custom Games via a new title update due to release in mid-December, with the intention to roll them out to dedicated servers as soon as possible in 2016.

Meanwhile, Ubisoft also intends to make the current Casual and Ranked playlists feel "as close and consistent as possible" in the hope that casual players will feel more "welcome to try a more 'competitive' playlist and get a rating for their performances, without having to re-learn or re-adapt to new settings".

"Similarly, Ranked players should feel compelled to launch in Casual, either to play without ‘ladder anxiety’ or just to try out a new strategy or Operator, Ubisoft continued. "For these reasons we are re-synching HUD on Ranked and Casual."

The changes to Casual and Ranked will be introduced via the same title update later this month.

For the sake of scrolling through the 90+ pages, this game is Online only? Does that include a single player "online mode"?

What about couch coop? Is it playable with only 1 other guy? Used to LOVE the old RS, college roommate and I thought we were SEALS.

Got 7 situations missions finished on Hard difficulty. Slow and steady progress.

I'm still on #5 with normal difficulty. Keeping this hostage safe is really ****ing with my livelihood.

Finally knocked out a realistic Terrorist Hunt last night. Classic Terrorist hunt is fairly doable with a good team. I like the extract ones as well. The defuse and defend missions can suck it.

I'm still on #5 with normal difficulty. Keeping this hostage safe is really ****ing with my livelihood.

The key thing I learned was to just drop the hostage so I could use my primary weapon instead of the sorry pistol.

Finally knocked out a realistic Terrorist Hunt last night. Classic Terrorist hunt is fairly doable with a good team. I like the extract ones as well. The defuse and defend missions can suck it.

Defense is evil.

Not to spam this, but can anyone confirm, there is no couch CO-OP? Just hoping to get a quick answer because my plan was to go buy it after work. Searching google it looks like a no, but nothing definitive it seems out there.

What a shame if its not.. Probably logged 100 hours couch CO-OP with my roomie

The only reason I didn't buy on release day is because of this. I played R6V2 for hours on end with a buddy in the Dorms.

I guess I'm just becoming a dinosaur, expecting friends to get together and play a game in the same room, on the same screen. I'll be honest though, even if the story mode was stripped down and the levels weren't perfectly designed for CoOp I'd still play it that way. For me half the fun is looking at my buds face when the Ai lands a ridiculous shot. Or when something spectacular happens in the story.

My all time favorite gaming moments all came playing couch CoOp.

Sucks....

I'll still end up picking it up eventually.

Correction: Situation 6 is the one I have issues with. Holding the 3 waves before they eliminate the hostage can suck it!

That one wasn't so bad since they always breach the same entry points in the same order. I would nitro cell one entry, gas the other (useless except for stalling), and then hide in a back corner.
