Not a fan of loadouts. Weapon, audio, and visual feedback is terrible. Still, it's kind of fun.

Re: DOOM (PC, PS4, XBOX One)
My brief impressions from one game
I don't like the feel of the movement it feels more like a glide than a run. The shotgun seems to be very over powered. The assault rifle is pretty weak. I do like the pace of the game. The graphics are meh but does bring me back to the days of playing the original doom. Through one game
5/10 multiplayer
Probably wouldn't buy.

Re: DOOM (PC, PS4, XBOX One)
I might pick it up on sale if the single player is any good.
Multiplayer just isn't going to hold my interest for long after playing the closed beta and that $40 season pass is even more of a reason for me to skip it until a sale. First it was maps, and now we're seeing weapons, modes, and equipment locked behind paywalls. It's become clear over the years that most companies don't care about sustaining a lasting and healthy online community. It's cash in, cash out.
In the closed beta, all the weapons and sounds were weak. There was no oomph to anything. You couldn't hear players moving around and at times couldn't hear the weapons of other players firing. There's no flinching, grunting, or anything to really let you know when you're taking damage from behind. Visual and audio feedback to the player and general audio mix was a mess.
Again, not a fan of loadouts. It's not Doom and it has no business being in what should be an arena shooter. It should be about map knowledge, rotation, control, and weapon pickups. Mixing loadouts and pickups just doesn't work, and you can throw any semblance of balance out the window. Often times a lot weapons end up feeling neutered with loadouts and only a few end up being worth using. The Super Shotgun was the weapon to use in the closed beta and it's a secondary. If you're going to go with loadouts, why not just go all the way and have classes?
I really believe there's a market for a more meat and potatoes deathmatch shooter done well. Instead, we just mostly continue to see the same blueprint repeated.Go Noles!!! >>----->Comment

Seeing loadouts in Doom also made me feel the same way about how I felt with Halo 4. Changing the core of what made that multiplayer mode unique and instead making it another me too copy of the CoD style. Arena shooters are about power weapon control and using loadouts just doesn't work. Same thing happened with Halo 4 where they ditched power weapons on the map.
I also want to have some optimism about the single player, but I'd be more excited about it if Machine Games was behind it. iD is only iD in name now. Most of that studio behind Doom and Quake is long gone now.
Hopefully the new Unreal Tournament or Codebreakers replicates that classic Quake/UT style arena shooter that's been severely lacking.Member of The OS Baseball Rocket Scientists AssociationComment

The beta is horrible. I wasn't planning on getting it regardless, but actually playing it made me confirm that decision. Feels dated as hell and I don't like the movement at all.Last edited by Pappy Knuckles; 04-18-2016, 12:15 AM.Comment

I'm still very excited for the single player campaign. I never gave a second thought to the MP to begin with so those impressions haven't meant anything to me, lol.Comment

EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.Comment

wow don't want to pile on too much but I watched a few MP videos, and it just looked boring to me"You can not ensure success, but you can deserve it." - John Quincy Adams
