Re: What's this? No discussion on FABLE!?
I played about 2 hours of gameplay myself yesterday and I agree with most of you. Great game but not groundbreaking. I like it but its sort of simplistic for my taste. But besides that, I think the games selling point is doing whatever you wanna do and have the rest of the world react to you instead of a "just" being a hero in a game.
Just like most have said on other boards, its so hard NOT to be evil its sickening. But it is a few times where your concience can get the best of you.
**Spoiler**
At the very beggining, when the little girl ask if you can find her teddy bear.......I dont care who you are, if you have any sort of a heart, you'll find that teddy bear for her. Same thing with the bully. If you have any warmth in that cold heart of yours, you'll beat the bullys ***.
**End Spoiler**
But being a badass is where its at though. Once you finish the guild in head out into the world, you cant help but destroy every beautiful thing in your path and watch the townsfolk get pissed about it. I bet even after I grow horns, look possesed and beat the game, I'll replay the game and still end up being a evil badass. Its just so much fun.
Now the graphics are top notch IMO. Seing the sun reflect off your characters face is a beautiful sight. The night time effects look awesome as well. The ppl as well as the scenery all look great. Not one complaint about the graphics. The sound is also key in the game. I enjoy epic type music and this game has plenty.
Now for my gripes, the world is very, very, very, very, very, very, very restricted. It reminds me of the Final Fantasy games where you can look but cant touch sort of thing. Or better yet, look but cant explore. Guard rails and strategically placed boxes keep you from roaming out into the wilderness or behind houses or just about anywhere outside of town. Its not too bad but I'm the type of player that likes to search every nook and crany and it was just to many places I wanted to venture but could'nt.
Also, what I mean by the game being simplistic to my taste is because I'm spoiled on the ultra-immersivness of Morrowind(I had to go there at least once). I mean, its only 4 diffrent attributes you can upgrade and when you compare that to the many attribute Morrowind has, its quite underwhelming. At least each attribute has sub-attributes which provides more diverse charcater growth so its not all that bad.
Keep in mind that these are just impressions. So far it has been fun and enjoyable and I cant wait to build my ultimate badass, heartless, unmercyful, Cobra Commander type of evil character in this game.
BTW, I love the MortFable rules. I must print and use.http://neverfollow.biz (Independent Music Group)Comment

XBL aware is so you can still talk to your buddies when you are playing the game.
From what I know it has nothing to do with the actual game."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace
"You'll not find more penny-wise/pound-foolish behavior than in Major League Baseball." - Rob NeyerComment
