    re: XCOM 2 (PC/PS4/XB1)

Im about to build my own gaming pc. Have been thinking about it for a while but this game got me over. I think theres a big chance they release it on console in the future but thus one you want to play on pc.
Had a really hard time not being able to play the long war mod.

I'm really looking forward to this but I'd be just as happy if it wasn't coming out in a few days as I'm still playing enemy within (long war) and I know I probably won't touch it again once this drops.

Maybe I should just hold off purchasing and continue with enemy within until I'm completely done with it. Hmmm

Never buy a game until the first patch is released. Just go on enjoying what you are enjoying. Let the others pay to Beta test.

sigh. i think i'm out for XCOM2, at least at launch. looks like it won't run on my Surface Pro 3, and it would cost about $125 for a decent enough graphics card that would fit into my media server at home (i was going to give Steam Streaming a shot).

Preload has started. Download size is 24.7 GB, not the 40 - plus I mentioned earlier.

Good point. I'm like that with sports titles since all of them require significant patching but never thought of it for xcom 2.

                      Not really.
If you plan on buying and playing the game....perhaps you SHOULD be a "beta tester" if you have feedback and interaction with the devs for the patch.
Otherwise...something that bothers you, but didn't get mentioned....or mentioned enough might not make it in to said patch(es) and then you're possibly stuck with it.

Bugs in games are a way of gaming.
NOT going away and you'll never see a bug free game released from the get go...so you might as well be in on fixing it.
...and if you don't care...then why wait at all?

In a game like X-Com I want the first playthrough to be meaningful and complete.

Same with the Total War Series of games. I love them to death, but they are brutal at launch.

But I see your point. To each their own, I just rather give the producers their money after they have patched up the first initial wave of issues, because after that its pretty much fine tuning.

I have the upmost faith in these guys to get it right though, I'd be very surprised if there were any gamebreaking issues at launch, but I've been burned too many times before that I prefer to wait.

No...I see your point with games that might be a one time play through.

He brought up that he was like that with sports titles....I was really commenting on that mostly.
But I don't mind finding bugs and reporting them...and then starting again if it's something major fixed.

Reading a lot about performance issues from the Steam forums - and I'd wager most of the ones complaining have a better system than I do.

Fortunately this is one type of game I don't mind dropping to 30 FPS for the sake of a stable framerate, being a turn-based strategy game with zero reaction time required.

I'll find out how it runs in about 9 hours. Game's fully pre-loaded and ready to go.

You'd think a PC exclusive would be better optimized.
