Anyone who beat this in five hours is as usual with most reviews playing on easy and ignoring all the collectables, etc. in the game. I have never read a review that told you difficulty they were playing on or what their settings/HUD options were during their play through.

Before getting into that, I went through the tutorial and once finished, I customized my load out and purchased that five piece random equipment for 500 steel. Did this four times since I had 2000 steel. You can also scavenge the equipment you don't want anymore for scrap (forgot what it's actually called). The amount of scrap you get is based on the level of equipment you have. I had a few pieces that were level 3 so I received 7 scrap for each. The scrap is then used to upgrade your character's weapon, armor, etc. but you also need steel. You can't upgrade unless you have both.

I then started the campaign 1.1 with the Knight. You can play as a male or female. Before choosing this campaign, I believe that you can also choose the Viking or Samurai story campaign as it doesn't appear to be in any order despite being numbered. I just go in numerical order. I love the overlay of the world map. Reminds me of old school RPG's back in the day. LOL.

Anyway, I finally start 1.1 on realistic which turns off your health and stamina bars as well as the button prompts for when in "the art of battle". This means that "R" analog direction that helps you when in "fights" is gone. You simply have to go by your opponents sword angle in order to counteract correctly.

I found all four "breakables" and five or so "observables". These are just optional collectables but you get rewarded. I received steel when I completed each set of "breakables". None of this is difficult or anything. It's more just taking your time, paying attention and not missing anything. The "observables" are basically a paragraph of info from Apollyon who narrates what you just "observed". Cool but I can understand if those who are playing ignore this.

I make my way through all the objectives to where I finally have the "major fight" at the end. I got a few good hits in but the CPU AI slaughtered me with combos and quickly killed me after my stamina ran out which I was unaware of because on "realistic" difficulty, that bar isn't shown.

After I lost, I restarted at my previous saved checkpoint which by the way was at the beginning of the stage meaning the hour or so I played was wiped out but on the positive side, any "breakables" or "observables" that you collected/completed stay intact.

Needless to say, until you master "the art of battle", no one is finishing this game in five hours on realistic difficulty simply because all it takes is for you to die once and pretty much have to start at the beginning of the stage again which in of itself takes time going through.

Fighting the minor enemies is basically just a hack and slash. When in the "major fights", I didn't have any problems until the end where I got my *** kicked. I love the setup to the art of battle and the controls were responsive. I was just slow in reacting. When you have your stance the same as the enemy and the enemy swings, you'll automatically block the attack.

I actually thought that it would have been even better if not only you had to be in the same stance to block but to also push the right analog in the correct direction as well when being attacked in order to actually block the enemy attack but you don't. You just have to be in the correct stance.

When locked on, there are these small black see through bars on the top and bottom of the screen. Not a fan of this at all. When locked on, you're basically stuck in the battle unless you let go of L2/LT in order to stop being locked on. This led to me getting hit a few times but I can't complain as this is just going to take time.

Game looks great and has good sound effects and solid voice acting thus far. I like Apollyon and hope she turns out to be an excellent villain. Controls and gameplay is good. Not sure if it was because I was playing as a heavy armored knight but he seemed a little slow due to the weight. Not sure if it's just the actual setup of the game or if the armor adds weight to the character that you're playing as.

Only encountered one audio glitch which is in that cut scene where you break the catapult and it slams into the enemies and goes crashing over the wall. The sound effects were missing for this.

Connection wise, was online since I installed the game and had no problems whatsoever. Would have played more but I have work the next two mornings. Will most likely start over on Friday. Not sure if I will keep playing on realistic. May try hard and just turn off the "defend/block/counter" prompts that's attached to the "R" analog button.

Definitely enjoyed what I played and wanted to keep playing but I have learned not to do that since that would lead me to only having two or three hours of sleep. LOL.
You pretty much summed up my thoughts. Whatever time I see people say they complete games in, I always multiply that time by a certain number depending on the genre of the game. For example, The Witcher 3, I'm over 600 hours in and I'm juuuust now getting close to the final stages of the game (still haven't touched the DLC!).

Anyway, I'm hoping to get used to the visual cues reference where the attacks are coming from, and on top of that, being quick enough on the sticks to counter it. I thought I had it pegged by foot placement, but I got rudely awakened by the first battle with the viking woman with the spear.

With some of the characters (correct me if I'm wrong), the dominant foot is towards the rear, and you know the attacks are coming from that side. However, this particular viking opponent with that foot to the rear, the attacks were coming very swiftly from the OTHER side and also above. It was confusing the hell out of me!!!!

Now that the network issues have seemed to stabilize I am loving this game. I'm just playing the hell out of duels right now. My WL% is just at 70, trying to hit 80%. Will be hard.

This is me. I didn't like the beta much at all but I'm weak. I was at Target yesterday and they had one Gold Editon for the PS4 left and got the 15% off discount for Cartwheel, got it for $60. Haven't opened it yet, but broke because all my friends were enjoying it. LOL

          Re: For Honor (PS4/X1/PC)

This game is too polarizing. I knew Ubisoft would screw up a ton, but even with the servers being a whole lot better I find myself leaving half the duels I get into now because of the massive amounts of rubberbanding. I attempted to play 4 different people in duels just now and only 2 of them got completed. The others were just too laggy to even try and complete. I'd be behind the person and rubberband back in front of them getting combo'd randomly. They'd say they dodge a certain direction, but I landed a combo to kill them. It's just a joke and impossible to play with a game like this.

When it works, one of my favorite games in my rotation, but when I have 21 hours in a game and only 10 hours are PVP, there is an issue. Way too many errors all around and when you get into a game it's a 50/50 chance it'll be stable. If it was just my internet, I could live with that, but I have a few different monitors on screen while I play and I never have ping spikes or poor connections during this, it's just Ubisoft's system being inconsistent at the moment. Maybe it'll be like Siege and in 15 months 1/3rd of the issues will have been fixed.

Not really seeing any issues on PS4 other than salty people quitting mid match. Everything has been running fairly smooth for the first week IMO.

I've been really focusing on Warden and improving against each character today. I won't have enough time to dump into this game to be able to really learn multiple characters, so I figured I'd just try to master one for now. The only character I get frustrated with is lawbringer, but that's only because of his ability to shove you off an edge from literally anywhere. I always get blindsided by him in multi man matches by getting shoved off a cliff or edge with his weapon charge.

I've had a lot of slow downs or errors online. Not enough to really tick me off since it only happens once in awhile but more than should happen imo. Some times people get booted or dropped as well. I was playing with my nephew the other day and twice I had to quit a match after he got dropped for some reason. We both have 40 mbs connection speeds so I don't think it is us. The lack of dedicated servers is unfortunate.

I love the game though. I've gotten decent at the Warlord but still struggle against some of the great players. I did beat one in a Death match after dying many times and it felt great.

I tried learning how to parry better by practicing on a bot but it is hard. The One instructions say to hit R2 when the attack arrow flashes a second time (very soon after the initial flash) but it's a real struggle. Guard break isn't that easy either. Has anyone mastered these techniques?

                  Re: For Honor (PS4/X1/PC)

I can parry pretty easily now. When the arrow flashes midattack is when you hit the heavy attack button. It's later than you might feel comfortable with at first, it was for me, but then you get the timing down. Each character has different speed attacks, but overall the windows are not too far apart to where you'll have to learn every character's attacks just to be able to parry. I don't know if it's the 2nd flash or not, I didn't know it flashed more than once. Parrying has pretty much become the way I do most attacks now.

Guard break is not how it's described in the tutorial. There is supposed to be a red shield that pops up to alert you when to hit the GB button to counter, but that is wrong at the moment. The way to do it now is when there is physical contact between characters. I struggle with this because I always hit it earlier anticipating the contact. It works best when I can force myself to wait and hit it a fraction after contact is made.

The campaign is actually pretty good. Ultra repetitive but really good. Ansel is really awesome too. I wish all games had Ansel support.

Solid 10 out of 10 for me. Campaign is VERY GOOD. Definitely will get your money's worth out of the campaign. So far I know spent well over 10 hours in the campaign and I just made it to the samurai section of the game.

Holy crap!!! 10/10??? Great to know. Due to work, I haven't been able to play past the first two missions with the Knight. Want to get back to it this weekend but I also want to play the GRW open beta and next week is Horizon week. Damn it!!! I need to add more hours into the day. 24 just isn't enough. LOL.

I wish the game tracked the different matches you played along with wins, losses and stats. That would be very cool.

Some of the costs on new executions and things are too high imo. I'm not wasting 5000+ on that. I'd rather buy premium packs. The only thing I did buy was a 1000 steel set or horns for my Warlord.

I think the daily orders are a nice way of getting you to try different game modes. I've had fun playing every mode. Skirmish is still my least favourite but the resplendent is good for new players. I can see this game being difficult to jump in as a new player since people are getting very good.

I will say this game is a good pick up and play game, but I will be interested in seeing how well it holds my interest come later in the year. I guess that's really in how the post release support is and how the player base evolves. Being a player that isn't going to play the game countless hours a week a wonder if my casual investment is going to allow me to still enjoy the game or just get frustrated at my lack of skill when it comes to multiplayer.

Only time will tell I guess but this is my one concern with this game and generally something I've faced with multiplayer based games as I've gotten older and my time to dedicate to them has dwindled down.
