Patch on the way. Valkyrie gets a needed buff but it sounds like the Peacekeeper will be harder too. I don't agree with that. That character is really tough to beat when controlled by someone who knows how to fight. I like the guard break returning to the beta style. Not sure what else is in there.

Re: For Honor (PS4/X1/PC)
When did they add the toggle so you can choose between Elimination and Skirmish in Deathmatch? Maybe I was clueless but I just noticed it. I'm glad they split those two modes. I enjoy almost all the modes but skirmish is my least favourite.
I do need to try other characters though. The fact I'm far worse at them though keeps me sticking with my Warlord.
Does the gear have any level caps? I've gotten some level 8 stuff when buying but never higher.Comment

THis is a cool site to track your matches, kills, deaths, win percentage and hours played. My win percent is under 50 on Deathmatch but better than that on the other stuff. Pretty neat.

Re: For Honor (PS4/X1/PC)
People are reporting that there are a lot more crashes when playing now and they can't finish a match. I snuck in one Deathmatch game after lunch and a couple of guys disconnected during the fight. I did end up finishing.
I didn't notice anything different from guard break at first but barely used it either (and I wasn't good with it pre-patch). I did notice new menu music though before the match started.Comment

Re: For Honor (PS4/X1/PC)
I got my *** kicked this morning in 3 duels against the same guy. He was using a Knight Conqueror and knew what he was doing. Most don't use that class since it's slower but it has great defence. He kept charging and guard breaking me mixed with 2 quick hits (that knight gets an auto hit if first light attack hits) and I could not get out of it. I'm not great at guard breaking on defense. The patch was supposed to fix it but I don't really notice much of an improvement at all. He beat me 3 straight and 9/10 sets. Only beat him once.
I've been having fun with Dominion a lot lately. People seem to know how to co-ordinate and play that mode better now.Comment

Re: For Honor (PS4/X1/PC)
If I could change a few things, besides dedicated servers, I would increase the stamina cost for doing guard break. Some people like the Conqueror can spam that too easily. It should cost more imo.
Second, there should be no boosts for the first 30 seconds of Elimination Death Matches. I HATE when you square off and your opponent goes running to collect boosts rather than fighting. I'd prefer at least a short time period where that isn't advantageous.
I'm still not a fan of Environmental deaths. Some characters can push and direct other players too easily for quick and cheap deaths. It's part of the game but not one I like very much. Some maps are difficult to avoid this stuff while others are fine. I'd like to see a few new maps where environmental deaths are less easy to pull off.
I know Valykrie got a buff but I'm still not scared of her when I face her as my Warlord. I think Peacekeeper, Berserker and Conqueror give me the most fits.
One other thing - the matchmaking isn't very balanced at times. My son was on a brutal team the other day. Unless that's a group of 4 linked together on the right I don't see why the game would do this.

Re: For Honor (PS4/X1/PC)
Any tips for improving? I've been doing duels against the AI while learning the mechanics, but I get beat down more often than not. Seems like a cool game, but I'm not very good at the moment.Comment

Re: For Honor (PS4/X1/PC)
For example, the Warlord after a guard break can get an unblockable attack from above. To attack from the side can be blocked. The Berserker has some twirling combos and if you use a Peacekeeper learn to stab after the guard break which will bleed your opponent over time. The fat Samurai Shufoki can get an auto win if it does the back breaker when near death. Instant kill. Some characters like Lawbringer are great for charging and pushing people off ledges.

Re: For Honor (PS4/X1/PC)
And don't forget to dodge. When I first started I tried to block everything. But some attacks can't be blocked if they guard break and other heavy attacks still do damage at the end of combos even if you do block. The big overhead chop by berserker, the fat samurai, Orochi has a big finish and the Raider even. Dodge and move around to avoid big hits and make yourself a tougher target.
Use light attacks to counter guard break and interrupt heavy attacks (some Heavy attacks can't be interrupted though like fat samurai -don't trade blows with him). Sometimes a good offence is your best defence. Learning how to counter a guard break with your own guard break is important and not easy either but a light attack to stop it before they get going can be better.Comment
