      Re: Horizon: Zero Dawn

I had rented this when it first came out to see what it was all about, but I couldn't really get into it. I think it was mostly because I had been playing too many open world rpgs, and just wasn't ready for another, no matter how different it may be. I also didn't give it enough time. I picked it up for 20 bucks and now I can't wait to get started after only playing sports games for a few months.

      Any good beginners tips?

Edit: I don't know what my problem was the first time around, but this game rocks! I didn't give it enough time for the story to settle in. Can't wait to get into this more today.

Upgrade pouches soon as possible. Do weapon tutorial missions right away. Save as much wire as possible. If you are a completionist probably override all the cauldrons as soon as possible.

Every once in a while when I'm playing this game I stop and just have to appreciate the views. It really is a beautiful game. Some stunning landscapes.

45 hours. Level 50. Only 50% main, 60% Frozen Wilds but done with the main missions obviously. Man I have to move on to another game lol. What a story.

Crisp controls. Good story / dialogue options / voice acting. Great enemies. Stealth + Action without being too much of either. Huge beautiful world.

This game is my perfect game so far. I intentionally held off playing so I can get through the Witcher 3, but I couldn't hold off any longer. Now, I don't know when I'll go back to The Witcher 3. TW3 is good, but Horizon Zero Dawn is perfect.

Played the game for the first time on ps4 pro and cheap 4k tv. I don't have real hdr, but it still looks freaking amazing. I'm blown away.

I'm in the same boat.. Bought this on sale after Christmas, but I'm still trying to finish up Blood and Wine.

I cringe a little bit every time I scroll past it to another game.

                        Re: Horizon: Zero Dawn

So I just started playing the DLC about 5 days ago and I think I have put like 8 hours into it and with playing the DLC I think this is moving up some more on my favorite video games list. I made a list of like 80 a while back don't remember where I had this game but I think the DLC may be even better then the main game. Seems like the robots in the DLC are more interesting then the ones in the base game and some are pretty darn hard. I was at like level 32 going into the DLC now at like 35.
                        Spoiler
Besides the DLC I also at some point need to go back and try doing more side missions. I beat the main game a few months ago. It took me around 33 hours to beat the base game with out doing any side missions. I had like 3 or 4 times where I got stuck. With out that this game is like a 25 hour game with out doing any like side stuff and if you like don't die so with side stuff and DLC there is a lot to do. This game is great if not for Zelda BOTW this would be my 2017 game of the year and is just a great new IP that Sony was able to come out with. I am already looking forward to seeing what they can do with a sequel. I think we could end up seeing the sequel being a ps5 day 1 game or something has ps5 may only be like 2 years or so away. I don't have a ps4 pro has I don't like the whole like mid gen thing and will just want for ps5 before I can play games in 4k even though I have a 4k tv I can wait and I don't have the best paying job so ps4 slim is fine for me but the game looks pretty darn good on my tv even with out being the pro. I am looking forward to ps5 and 4k a lot though.

Finally getting around to playing this. This game is awesome. I don't think I'm too far into the game, I've tried to explore as much as I can before diving deep into the story.

As you know, we have the same TV. I've had Zero Dawn since August but haven't played any of it. Sounds like I need to fire it up after finishing my 4th replay of Uncharted 4.

Don't even wait for that, just start playing it now lol. The map/world is massive. There's so many ways you approach the game as far as when you do certain things. Not as open as BoTW, but you can do a bunch of side quests and explore quite a bit without advancing the main story. That's pretty much what I've done to this point, but I'm loving this game.
