    Re: Stellaris (PC)

One of the problems with sectors is they can't buy buildings that need influence, so I have to wait until the pops hit 5 and build a capital before I can shove them in a sector. Even then, I can't build any of those upgrades either. I think right now I am up to 10 planets under direct control, and I'm having to sell off lots of minerals to stay afloat. This game really punishes quick expansion. Thankfully, early on most of my neighbors were pretty docile, and now I have a strong fleet where I feel confident playing defense, although moving my fleet causes an economic recession.

I also wish I could tell which species is in a colony ship, or be able to abandon a colony. I accidentally put one of my secondary races, an ocean-goer, onto an arid planet, and now he hates it.

In general though, I'm really enjoying my first game.

Finally got off to a great start, have my people growing quickly. Working with a primitive civilization to try and get it to the space age. I'm working on developing a federation, have three in an alliance, and used that to vassalize a force to the south. They were basically on the brink of declaring war, so once I saw we had an advantage in force, I declared, offered my allies a planet each and turned them to my vassal. We destroyed them and I have a new vassal. On my way to galactic conquest!

My PC runs EU IV with ease but the system specs for Stellaris seem a little more challenging. Anyone having success running this on an older gaming rig?

If it helps, my graphics card is a 550Ti with 1GB RAM.

I don't really know man. I'm pretty new into pc gaming. But I have a GTX 750TI and 8 gb of Ram and it runs great.

totally forgot about this game coming out, need to find a working code at GMG or similar

Haven't finished reading through the thread here yet, but is the does the game help you come up to speed? I like Paradox games and I would love to have a space one that is good, but don't know if I can spend the time needed to learn how to play right now.

Also is the Nova edition work the extra $10 for the Exclusive Alien race?

Game has a tutorial but you better off watching Youtube videos to get the hang of the game. And no the Nova edition isn't worth it.

So last night I had some damn raiders run through 2 of my galaxies and destroy some mining stations and a couple of outposts. I built 3 fleets and went after their butts. Wiped them out. Felt so awesome. When you zoom in, the combat in this game looks pretty awesome.

Bought this earlier today. I've never played a Paradox game, but have always wanted to. And from what I hear, this is the most noob friendly game they have.

Pretty excited to dive in. Any general tips you guys have?

Send your science ship to explore as many galaxies as possible. Then build an outpost in those galaxies to claim them. Also want to build a lot of mines to get your resources flowing in steadily. After that make sure you have a fleet or 2 to protect yourself.

Ultimately there is gonna be a lot of trial and error. Watching the Lets Play videos from you tubers like Mal and Quil helped me a lot.

@Gotmadskillzson said the tutorial sucks like most of the Paradox games (I wish they would just spend a little time on those as it would open the games up to more people). So here are the things I'm starting with.

I found this tutorial, while not the greatest, was the best Paradox has had yet. I'd play your first game with the tutorial on and watch some YouTube videos as well, but use your first game as a trial.

This is good advice! Be careful though, you can get border friction stacks from being too close to AI, especially so in the early game when you're science rushing and seeking to get your framework in tact!
