    Re: The Witness (PS4/PC)

Played for about an hour and so far it's been enjoyable. So far I haven't been stumped by the puzzles yet which is a good thing but I can see them getting extremely challenging later on.

Here's a tip. Use your phone's camera, I've already taken a couple of pictures of some of the puzzles and it's helped me out. What would have been cool is if there was an app for this game where if you got stuck you could take a picture of the puzzle and then you could work it out on your phone and then it could upload the solution to the game when you got back in. * I call copyright for that type of game*.

Really enjoying the game so far. Very early but something very cool about it. I appreciate the visual style and colors

I'm stuck on a puzzle but I'm determined to get it myself. Probably would kill my ego to see how fast someone on here solved it before I can lol

Edit: just got it, felt very rewarding

This game already has me keeping notes on a separate sheet of paper.

I feel like a genius 1 second after solving a tough puzzle only to feel like an idiot when the next one stumps me for half an hour. 75 puzzles done for the night. Currently stumped with the remaining puzzles in the area I'm at right now.

I feel like I'm probably missing some recordings as I rush from puzzle to puzzle

Man I'm hooked. I'm really enjoying this. I took of your advice (from both of you) and I'm taking pictures in some spots and writing notes/drawing diagrams/summarizing recordings in a notebook.

I sat down to check it out earlier and next thing I know it's been about 5 hours. I wish I could post screens/vids but I feel anything with a puzzle (especially a competed puzzle) is a possible spoiler and I don't want to do that to anyone. Im on what I would consider my fourth "area." I've backtracked a couple times as I'm I think there's things. I've missed in the first couple areas.

I really dig this game so far. I feel dumb pretty routinely but at least it's making me think. the visuals/sound/atmosphere are really well done IMO. At the end I'll either have to go back or just start a new game for a second playthrough with a guide of some sort to catch anything I missed.

I don't know what the meaning is, or what's going on really, but I'm starting to get a feel for some possible metaphors being presented

It helps you solve puzzles. Some involve shapes, and writing them down helps me piece it together better than just looking at the game screen.

Also helps as a reference just to remember the rules to certain puzzles in the game.

I cannot recommend this game enough to anyone who has even a passing interest. This game deserves the opportunity to get you hooked on it.

Yeah sandman said it better than I did.

I have three sections of notes , puzzles, recordings, and diagrams/misc notes, I try to summarize each recording and make a note of what area it was in and what puzzles were involved in that area. For each type of puzzle I write down the general rule of how to solve that type of puzzle (which can be a puzzle in itself) so I remember down the road as I expect some of these themes or reappear down the road.

This game kind of reminds me of when I first played Myst wayyyyyyyyy back in the day, I was just a little kid clicking my way around and thought it was so cool and interesting, it makes me feel like that kid again,

Is Ellen page the girl voice of on the recordings?

For those that may be kind of daunted by a puzzle game approach just let me say thi:

I'm being honest, I am not a smart man. The other guys I'm this thread probably breeze past stuff that takes me forever, but it's so well done and the challenge is so rewarding. I know it's early but so far this is my "dying light" of 2016, a game I didn't know anything and checked out randomly that ended up being my most played game.

As someone else said, its very much worth a look, especially on some sort of inevitable flash sale within the next 6 weeks or so

I completed 35 panels and said F this. Couldn't get past a few and turned it off for now. LOL

This is no right or wrong way to go, I can complete whatever puzzles I can, no certain order?

Yep, once you leave the initial area, you can go wherever you want. There are sections that will "teach" you how to complete certain puzzles, so I would seek those out over just random puzzles in the environment. There's already tons of panels I've passed where I have no idea what the symbols on them mean.

I have now resorted to cutting out tetris pieces on paper and laying them over a hand drawn board to help me with the tetris piece puzzles. Solved 3 of them that I was stumped on almost instantly.

Was stuck for the longest and then something clicked and blew through quite a few in a row. Stuck again though. Thank I'm at 59 panels.
