Is there any way to just unholster your revolver and aim it without having to press L1 to bring up the wheel and then use R1 to pick your weapon? I hate having to bring up the wheel and having to choose a gun every time I need to have a gun! Am I doing something wrong?
If you have a weapon unholstered, you can tap L1 to holster it. That will also be the first weapon you can unholster again by tapping L1.
Holding L1 will bring up the wheel. Tapping will unholster the last weapon you used.

Ahhh so we can get that. Next time I see him he's getting a fist to the face. I want that hat.

I think I literally stared at him for about 5 minutes. He got up and started fighting me. Took a LONG time to beat him, including being told to move along because the fight took too long.
To any of you "older" gamers (I'm 46) - do you really feel like you want to enjoy this game BUT you also feel like you're totally overwhelmed and it's more intimidating than it is fun?...
Just asking for impressions --- that's where I am right now.
I'm not 46, a bit younger at 36, but I'll assume we both have similar real-world things going on in our lives like families and children and very little time to just zone out and play.
I'll say this, I've played about 11 hours so far (I've been tracking it myself since the game apparently does not. Not sure why). The last 5 hours I focused on doing missions along with some side stuff that I want to do. I don't always stop for a stranger or someone calling out to me because I don't always have time for them. And those last 5 hours have been the most fun I've had. The game is opening up so much more for me.
But, the great thing about doing missions is it teaches you all of the confusing stuff. There's actually a mission that teaches you that you can talk to people. How about that? Yeah some of the stuff might seem obvious but the point is it's there.
Someone mentioned not knowing the melee controls. Well, there's a mission for that. I learned how to dodge, block, hold and punch. I take down large brutes without any issue thanks to that.
So my suggestion is to play the missions in the camp. They will force you outside so you'll still get to explore, meanwhile, you'll learn some of the mechanics some more.
For example, I learned how to quick draw thanks to a side-mission. For anyone confused with it, you need to start helping with that book.

I'll be 59 in January and I'm loving every second of this game. The only problem is it's keeping me away from Madden 19 and F1 2018 , I need to get back to those games, but I just can't.
It's not your TV or imagination but it does look like something has been uncovered. A good read into the technical side of HDR tests and what looks like an an upscaled standard dynamic range image in RDR2 instead.

I’m going to be 42 and yes I feel sort of the same way plus the fact that I have young kids and don’t have a lot of time to play.
