Well, he said it's his health core and not the horse's, and the only time I've seen my health core even go red is when it's completely empty (note that doesn't mean dead, only that health won't regen). Any other kind of symbol there would be something new to me.

But the pause menu does a good job of explaining what's what - it's where I learned that the red symbol on my horse's health core was a brush, and what I needed to do.

Does the framerate drop during cutscenes for anyone else? I'm playing on the X. Sometimes it looks a little choppy and it looks like textures haven't loaded during the scenes.

Okay so I ended up re-starting my game and started from the beginning. I feel like I wasn't really that into the story cause I was adjusting to the controls and such. I definitely feel more immersed in this game now that I've done so. I'm at the first camp now and have done pretty much some exploring here or there.

        Spoiler

I'm trying to be less volatile and more rational with who I kill and what not.

Also, where do I go to drop off any animal that I kill? Do I have to bring the entire animal body back to the butcher or anywhere else on the map to donate it to my gang? I don't understand the difference between skinning it and donating the items acquired from there and just bringing the whole animal and dropping it off in camp somewhere lol.

Love this game so far. Wish I had more time to play!

Stick me in the camp of enjoying the slow, methodical, realism played out in this game. Loving the whole experience so far. Adding this to my 3 different sport franchises, an MMO, two VR games, and I have a full plate. This will no doubt have me now looking at only limiting what future purchases I make from now on and into 2019.

Hi everyone. Loving this game. One thing I really enjoy is just exploring the map. In doing so last night I found something I want to share with you all. I don't consider this a spoiler it's something you can find that will greatly help you out , Hint $$$$. I'm putting it in as a spoiler in case some don't want to know about it. Also i haven't read this entire thread so if this has already been posted just ignore it.

Here's one thing I don't like about the game. Some times I find area's with people that i just want to talk to, I approach them with no weapon drawn on foot and they raise their gun and threaten me and often shoot at me , well..........

The more I think about it, you may be right, but if so, it’s glitched. I was bitten by a snake out in the swamp and I immediately loaded a save that I had only made a few minutes prior. The red skull may have stuck. It doesn’t seem to be affecting anything, but I hope it gets patched, because it will get confusing later on if I get poisoned, again.

Edit: It may be the bounty I have on me from the “Strawberry incident.” It’s $300. Maybe it’s been there since that mission and I just didn’t notice it.

                    Re: Red Dead Redemption 2

Had a rough time hunting the legendary bighorn and buck last night. Got the bighorn no problem, but the buck was up past Strawberry where I still have a $300 bounty. First time I made it to the area with the buck I got ambushed by bounty hunters AND wolves. Managed to fight the wolves off but the bounty hunters finished me off.

Took another stab at it and finally took down the buck. I took the scenic route back to the trapper in an attempt to stay off the main roads away from where anyone could identify me. Managed to get almost all the way there before I was attacked by a bear. Managed to somehow kill it with a shotgun to the face. So I chucked the bear pelt on the back of the horse and headed toward the trapper. Not one minute later I was ambushed by bounty hunters again and killed.

So I loaded back in, finally made it to the trapper minus a bear pelt unfortunately, but my journey was over for the day. I booked it back to Valentine, sat down to play some poker and called it a night.

And just incase anyone is wondering, if you die with a legendary pelt on your horse, the pelt automatically goes to both the trapper and the fence. I was still able to ride to the fence at Emerald Ranch to purchase the legendary buck trinket.

                    Man this game is amazing.

I used to get that way. Now I simply take my time and don't go after every little thing I see... (people getting robbed etc..)
I go in saying I want to do 2-3 story missions and add about an hr or so of doing my own thing...
                          So far so good.

I'm not older (30) but my suggestion would be to actually play some missions. I was feeling the same way and honestly the game felt like one of those movies that's a Best Picture nominee but you more appreciate it than enjoy watching it. Once you start to play some missions the game gets some structure and direction and things start to feel more like a R* title. I just made it to chapter 3 and the end of chapter 2 felt like "home" again.

I'm happy everyone is having fun in free roam but wandering around aimlessly just wasn't for me. I still hunt, fish, do random encounters etc but the story gives me a baseline of things to do that keeps it moving.

As with RDR, this game gets so much better when you've unlocked the paint/target version of Dead Eye. The animations and kills when you can target body parts are fantastic. I'm thrilled Rockstar let us unlock it so early in this game compared to RDR.

One thing that is increasingly getting on my nerves is the shooting mechanics while on horseback. Why does holding LT just bring up an icon telling you to hold RT to aim? I really wish LT would pull your gun and aim like in RDR. The whole mixing of LT and RT when on horseback vs not is confusing the hell out of me when I have to make a split-second reaction when I get ambushed on horseback. I've had numerous occasions where I've tried to shoot back and pressed LT and I ride around like an idiot without a weapon drawn.

It's not just age; a ton of people on Reddit have been talking about how confused and overwhelmed they are. There are massive threads over there with tips and explanations. I think a lot of people were expecting RDR Part 2 but we got RDR the Quasi-RPG instead. There is so much information to take in and the tutorials could be much better. Myself and my two friends who bought the game (mid/late 30s) were all confused at the beginning. One of my friends rage-quit a few times. It probably took 15 hours of playtime (maybe more? I still don't know how to check) and getting towards the end of Chapter 2 before I felt pretty comfortable.

I will say that there's a ton of stuff you can ignore. You don't need to craft stuff, for example. At least I haven't found the need to yet. You don't have to upgrade various things at camp. It may make the game easier but it's not required. You don't need to customize your guns or change your outfit all that often (just keep a winter outfit stored on your horse for cold-weather missions). Food/tonics/etc is plentiful so worrying about your Cores isn't a big deal once you get going.
