LOL on the flip side I've logged well over 30 hours into this game already and so far I've only done eleven missions.

I had been putting off main story missions, but I've pressed forward the last couple of evenings to unlock fishing. I've got that behind me now and I feel like I can now return to my slow pace and just enjoy meandering and exploring.

There is code in the companion app that points to this coming to pc....and also something about oculus. Red dead in VR? You betcha.

Spent 2 hours hunting for a perfect beaver and raccoon tonight and came up empty. Whoever decided to put this upgrade mechanic into the game can kiss my ***.

Got a new 4K TV to play this game on. Played for about an hour and wasn't really impressed... Until I came to find out HDR was turned off and it had bumped me down to 1080p. :o Found where the HDR setting was located (under "Input" not "Picture") and holy shmokes. Now I'm impressed.


In the game itself, weird thing happened... Tied my horse at the train station to take the train to a mission, hopped on a new horse to complete that mission, took the train back to my old horse, new horse was there too, was waiting for the train to leave to lead the new horse across the tracks, train starts to leave and smacks new horse in the head knocking it down, some guy reacts to the incident "Whoa!", new horse is apparently dead. Oh well, still got my old horse!

Rockstar now asking me to verify if the day one patch is installed like that’s causing the hdr problem. Can’t make this stuff up. Straight up avoiding the problem.

Any reviews on using a varmint rifle and did you buy it ? I need to buy one as I'm always out of arrows and the poor rabbits are getting destroyed with a shotgun lol

I use the varmit rifle all the time. I hardly ever use my bow. I’m about to give up on hunting for perfect small game though. Way too frustrating. I guess I won’t be getting that last satchel. If I see one I’ll shoot it but I’m not wasting hours searching for a raccoon anymore.

Before the news broke about the HDR issues, I uninstalled and reinstalled the game 2 times just to make sure I was getting a patch. It’s a shame they’re avoiding this issue (if they are)

It sounds like regular customer service response. It's not like this email chain is hitting top level suits. They're too busy counting their money and tackling known issues from prior to launch.

It's just going to take the media and more complaints for Rockstar to fix it.

I'm sure they have to be aware. It's not a secret. They are probably choosing to ignore it until they figure it out. Otherwise, by now they would have said it was a stylistic choice.

They can't run from it because any interview from a well-known gaming site is going to ask about it.

I am in chapter 2 and I left the camp and went to town with Uncle and the girls in the wagon. I chased down the guy who recognized me from black water and then got into a fight in the saloon and helped Javier. Dutch shows up and tells me to get cleaned up, I was all muddy from fighting in the street. I took a bath and got clean but now I’m stuck in town without my horse and uncle and the girls are gone I guess. Do I have to walk back to camp? Sorry, one of the “older” guys (48) playing this game. Just a little overwhelmed. And how do you know what is a story mission and what is a side mission? Thanks!

It was free at the Valentine gunsmith for me but I don't know if that was part of the pre-order package. I do use it all the time since the bow and arrow gets on my nerves.

I thought I had my horse after that. You can ask for rides when wagons drive by. Don't know if they'd take you to camp, though. Story missions ste gold, side missions are white.

You can go to the stable and retrieve your horse. Or you can take a wagon ride back. Or you can walk and enjoy the scenery!


I don't think there are any clear story vs side missions other than the missions from guys in your camp advance the story. I don't know if there are any particular missions that absolutely need to be done within those camp missions.
