Re: Red Dead Redemption 2
Well, you got me all curious about your question. Looks like they have source materials in their claim; Interesting how the population has grown back over the years.
Deer Population The total United States deer population in 2021 was about 35.2 million, up from a recent low of 32.2 million in 2014, down from the recent peak in 2000 of 38.1 million deer. In 2021 there were about 31.7 million whitetails and 3.5 million mule and blacktail deer. Use the drop

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2
Anyone here have a clue on how much exactly the Core Stats Bonus and the Cash Bonuses & Camp Upgrade Discounts bonus content helps the player?
Just turned it off shortly after getting to chapter 3 to see if I notice anything.

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2
So that mission at the end of Chapter III (pics included)...
SpoilerThere aren't too many moments in a game where I've felt like I was part of a crew of very bad bad men like that. I pity anyone who crosses the van der Linde gang, that's for sure!

Red Dead Redemption 2
Just did this tonight too. Amazing stuff. I can’t wait to replay some of these and try to get gold because I pretty much get gold on nothing because I’m always looting and going over time limits and using the incorrect guns for challenges. It also seems eating tobacco to replenish dead eye counts as “health items” because I never get that one either.Comment

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2
To add, if you're a big fan of westerns and the time period then that would help with enjoyment. It's definitely a game that can overwhelm you in a way that may not necessarily be bad, but turns some away.
I've spent too many nights in a row where I got hours in each sitting and never did any missions. The hunting in this game is great and very time consuming for someone like me, but I'll admit now that I have some cash after making it a few chapters in I don't hunt near as much because it's not as quick of a way to rake money in once you unlock other activities. It isnt useless and I still do it for supplies and money, though.
If I had one complaint about the hunting its that I feel there are too many animals around at times. Just feels too dense. I don't want it to turn into a hunting sim where you sit in a blind for 2 hours and see 3 deer total, but there are times where I look down the river or coast of the lake and see 20+ deer and it's easy to get a few. Maybe back then deer were that prevalent, I've not a clue.
Anyways, see how deep a post can go on about one aspect of the game and I didn't even divulge too deep into it? That's the type of game RDR2 is.Comment

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2
My horse Heated Exchange died last night. He went through a lot with me. We killed some O'Driscolls together. We successfully ran from many a bounty hunter. He was there through every shooting match and bar fight, ready for the quickest exit.
He didn't deserve my careless handling of our strongest bond.
Last night he excitedly turned too close to a train and the hit to his head instantly killed him.
I'll miss him. He was a good boy.

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2
So does revive not work if the horse is dead dead?
I couldn't use it. I think that's when it really hit me that he was dead.
Actually, no. He was slumped over for most of it so I thought he might be alive. When I touched him and he fell over, that's definitely when it hit me that he was dead.

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2
I think some things lead to straight death, others lead to the down but not out stage where you can revive them.
I haven't had a horse even go down yet, but I'm pretty sure things like trains instantly kill them. Not sure about gunfire and headshots.“No one is more hated than he who speaks the truth.”

I did have my horse die in one of my "fooling around" sessions without saving where I had an unfortunate incident with an oil tank, while my horse had decided to follow the coach while it was getting shot at. I died and so did my horse and the 2 driving it.Comment
