You can mod it to make horse move differently potentially. Basically, the majority of mdos for games are just changing values around to make the game play a bit different than how the devs made it. Some people always want the game to be more hardcore, some want it less. Mods allow both crowds to be pleased with a game.

Then, more advanced mods can add completely new things to game from new features to even removing features potentially. It varies game by game as to what can and cannot be changed with games, but given the amount of mods we've seen for GTA IV and V it is likely RDR2 will see plenty of mods that actually can change the gameplay a bit.

Why would devs allow mods and user content to be created? For some games like Cities Skylines or Farming Simulator, why not? They aren't competitive games and allowing users to easily add more features or assets to a game can only help your game be more popular. For games like this, why limit single player mods? They hurt nobody, and can only help make more people interested in the game when they see they can fine tune it to what they want. Mods online are not as accepted and rightfully so. Rockstar does try to stop mods from entering online play, but that doesn't mean you won't run across any.
Yep mod visuals, weapon destruction, add characters and their abilities for example they add marvel avengers characters to GTA V. You can be Thanos with the use of all of his infinity gauntlet stones.

Infinite health ala no damage even if shot or hit with a vehicle.

What they'll do with a Western, I don't know. Make an OP Jesse James or some crazy John Wayne mod who knows.

Developers don't allow it in theory, but often they don't care either, but people are smart and know how to program. If you have the PC version and know how to code, it isn't that difficult for somebody with a programming background.

Just the way of the world. Majority of mods are a good thing when it comes to video games. It adds stuff that developers left out, which was probably due to licensing issues or not enough time. Some developers do embrace the modding community. Arma 3 would be no where near as good if it wasn't for it's huge modding community. Same can be said about Madden, both soccer games, GTA 5, Cities Skylines, etc.

Off the top of my head:

        More variety of animals
        Different color patterns for horses
Different types of saddle bags and accessories
More weapons from that time period
        More store front buildings
Change the town names, I can see somebody naming something Tombstone
        Probably add a cowboy mod

I've never modded before, but outside of "changing values," let's say that there is a .jpg file in a game that shows some sort of banner (say for an advertisement on a scoreboard). I assume that if you give it the same name and swap out the image with whatever (Mickey Mouse, a poop emoji, whatever), that if the resolutions match and such you can probably just do that.

Other things are probably a little more difficult to do, of course. I know programming, but I've never modded before since I've never been a PC gamer. I'd be curious to check it out here, possibly. I semi-imagine you need the disc for the game though, and not just the Steam version for example.

You can mod digital versions of PC games just fine. Majority of PC games don't even have a disc version. All the files you need is in the digital version to figure out what you can and can't edit.

Okay, digital versions are fine. But if you're on Steam, isn't it one of those things that like you technically don'town the game or something? You've downloaded it from their server, but everything is only operational just through Steam itself? I don't really know, so that's why I'm asking.

No, you can play Steam games offline and mod steam games just fine. NBA 2K for example, their Steam version have been heavily modified for years now. Also some Steam games have official mod support, so when you go to the Steam website and go to the game store web page store, it have a workshop section where you can just download mods.

                For example:

Cities: Skylines - Starter Deluxe EditionSet up your city building experience for success with the Starter Deluxe Edition. This package gives you the most popular starter DLCs as a groundwork for a thriving metropolis. And not to forget, with some good vibes in the background. The Deluxe Edition Upgrade Pack:Included in the Deluxe Edition are 5 In-game historical monuments from around the world, the games original soundtrack as well as a digital art book. Five in-game items include:Statue of LibertyEiffel TowerBrandenburg GateArc de TriompheGrand central terminalOriginal Soundtrack:This Original Soundtrack includes 14 unique tracks mixed from the ambient music of the game, allowing you to enjoy the wonderful music whenever you want.Digital Art book:See the concepts behind the buildings! The book features almost a 32 hand drawn concepts of the game various buildings and the story behind each.Industries Expansion:In one of the most in-depth expansions in Cities: Skylines, Industry becomes a larger and more meaningful part of the game with this expansion. Players can customize their industrial areas with supply chains for the four different resource types and unique factories. Well managed industry areas will level up and become more efficient. Aside from production chains, there is a new city service for handling mail and the cargo airport eases import and export of factory goods. There are five new maps, new policies, new city services, new buildings (including resource extractors, manufacturers, warehouses and unique factories) and more.Mass Transit Expansion:Cities: Skylines - Mass Transit brings several new systems into play to help citizens traverse their towns in speed and style. Commuters can now get around on water, up high mountain peaks, and even through the sky thanks to the addition of ferries, monorails, cable cars, and blimps.Along with new transit service buildings, mass transit hubs where lines can exchange passengers, new scenarios, new landmarks, and new road types, urban planners now have more options than ever to add unique style and personality to their growing cities.Synthetic Dawn Radio:Get in the groove with some stellar tunes from Synthetic Dawn, the most far-out radio station to land in Cities: Skylines, ever! This channel features 16 original new songs, both instrumental and vocal jams, spanning four unique genres: 80s Electro, Vocoding Electro, Breakbeats and Futuristic Synths. Tune in and zone out as synth-spin master DJ Jessica Statler brings the funk to Synthetic Dawn Radio. All That Jazz Radio:With All That Jazz, Paradox is introducing an all new kind of traffic jam in Cities: Skylines. The briefly internet-famous Jazz Boatman returns as DJ, so players can dig harder than a jackhammer at a road repair. The new All That Jazz radio station will feature 16 new songs across several smooth genres: Classic, Latin, Funky and Chill-Out Jazz.About the GameCities: Skylines is a modern take on the classic city simulation. The game introduces new game play elements to realize the thrill and hardships of creating and maintaining a real city whilst expanding on some well-established tropes of the city building experience. You’re only limited by your imagination, so take control and reach for the sky!Multi-tiered and challenging simulationConstructing your city from the ground up is easy to learn, but hard to master. Playing as the mayor of your city you’ll be faced with balancing essential requirements such as education, water electricity, police, fire fighting, healthcare and much more along with your citys real economy system. Citizens within your city react fluidly, with gravitas and with an air of authenticity to a multitude of game play scenarios.Extensive local traffic simulationColossal Order's extensive experience developing the Cities in Motion series is fully utilized in a fully fleshed out and well-crafted local traffic simulation.Districts and PoliciesBe more than just an administrator from city hall. Designating parts of your city as a district results in the application of policies which results in you rising to the status of Mayor for your own city.Utilize the Day and Night CycleThe city changes during the hours of the day and affects citizen schedules. Traffic is visibly slower at night and some zoned areas do not work with full efficiency. Cities: Skylines will put you in control of managing the different aspects of the day and night cycles.Extensive modding supportBuild or improve on existing maps and structures. You can then import your creations into the game, share them as well as download the creations of other city builders on the Steam workshop.

Other games don't have that official support, so you would have to download the mod files from Media Fire or whatever and put them in the game folder yourself, like NBA 2K and FIFA modding.

You buy it you own it. Now when it comes to subscription services like Uplay+ and Origin Premiere, you don't own those games unless you buy it out right, if you just using the sub service then when cancel that sub, then you lose access to the games, but while your sub is active, you can still mod those games too just as if you it bought it out right.

When you get a game from Steam, EA Origin, Uplay, GOG, etc you get all the files that would have came on the disc. So you can just mod away.

RedM was announced the same day the PC release hit the news, it's FiveM for Red Dead.

FiveM is what allows for all the cool RP stuff going on on Twitch in GTA 5. (here is a search for NoPixel, one of the most popular RP servers: https://www.twitch.tv/search?term=nopixel).

It's actually a mod of the single player game which allows for multiplayer.

FiveM is a modification framework for GTA V, allowing you to play multiplayer on customized dedicated servers.

I'd love to see a "RDR1" mod. Make a more fun and casual version of RDR2.
                      • Disable the cores outside of health and Dead Eye, maybe stamina. I don't want to worry about sleeping or eating.
                      • Disable your horse's cores and the need to clean the animal.
                      • Disable the 1-3 star pelts for animals. A kill is a kill, a pelt is a pelt.

Adding a true RDR1 fast travel system from your crafting camp would be huge.

Being able to run in camp would be nice. Finding a way to unlock RDO clothing, especially ponchos, for offline play. Add new weapons. Increase weapons/crafting maxes; it would be fun to carry 100 dynamite arrows.

Having never played Bully or Max Payne 3 much at all, looking forward to having those for when I'm looking for something "new" to play.
