    Re: Red Dead Redemption 2

After running a few benchmarks this morning (I'm working from home and trying REAL hard not to play) I played for 5 min or so just to see how it's running. Luckily I'm not having the issues a lot of people seem to be having.

1440p, most everything on Ultra,a few high settings, and one or two on Medium - I'm getting 55-60 FPS. Again, not a large sample size but so far so good. Looks freaking amazing. And I can live with 60fps, or just under. Hopefully a patch will fix some optimization, shadows and such can be finnicky.

    Two things I did:

    1) Rolled back to the Nvidia 441.08 CoD GameReady Driver
    2) Changed some settings on the Nvidia Control Panel - max power, 1 pre-rendered frame, tripplebuffering off, specified my GPU and GSync.

Not sure if/how much the NCP settings helped, but I usually set those same settings on every game instead of allowing the global profile to take over.

Anyway, I'm feeling hopeful that it'll continue running well, assuming any patch doesn't have adverse effects. Especially considering the snow is so intensive, saw much better FPS during the benchmark when not on the opening snow frame.

That would be correct sir I’m at 1440p. Looks really good at 1440p I can’t even imagine what it looks like at 4K but the movement at 80-90 plus fps is really impressive.

I do have MW and GRB on PC and like them both equally. Just have had so little time these past few months to play but hopefully with us heading into winter my gaming time will increase. Hell it has to with all these new titles.

I feel the same way. If it wasn’t for OS getting from guys like ODogg, Phobia and a few more on here I would be screwed and broke.

              Thank you Rockstar!!

Here are 2 photos. The first w/HDR and the second w/o HDR. At some point I need to get my monitors settings right.

Your monitor is not going to give you a good hdr experience. it is not even hdr400 certified because it cannot top 340 nits of brightness

HDR will only look good on 4 current pc monitors and the cheapest is about 1200 dollars

Also 1440p 80fps you gotta be on low to medium settings

              I have 2080ti and 19 9900k and at max settings its 25 to 35fps

I need to run everything at low at 4k to get 65fps

1080p , all graphics settings maxed except for the following...

shadow quality = high , far shadow quality = medium
reflection quality = high , mirror quality = high
                TAA = medium , FXAA & MSAA = OFF
                advanced options = unlocked
near & far volumetric resolution = high
                particle lighting quality = high
water physics quality = 1 click from max

benchmark: between 55-75 fps (watching fps from MSI Afterburner)
The game said 63.4 average fps when the benchmark was over

I ran the benchmark about 20 times changing settings to get it the best I could while still maintaining 60fps as much as possible. I would test and play at 1440p, but I'd rather have higher settings at a lower resolution.

                      Re: Red Dead Redemption 2

So, this game is absolutely gorgeous. I am playing on Ultra textures, everything else at high except for the distant fog or whatever it was is set to medium. 1440p. It will stutter, more like pause, and then run smooth for a bit, then pause for 5 seconds, then run smooth. A bit annoying, but during the smooth parts this game is just unbelievably good looking.

I was running on the Vulkan renderer, I'm gonna switch to DX12 and see if that helps any. Hopefully soon Rockstar can get the game fixed for most and running more smoothly like they were saying it was supposed to. If they can get this game running better, I'll just get lost staring at how pretty it is.

Game wouldn't even get passed the Rockstar logo before crashing so I tried one temporally disabling my antivirus and finally I can play on PC. Hopefully Rockstar gets this patched soon.

I do have both games on X1X and I don’t see myself going back to console gaming at least until the new consoles come out. The faster fps and the better graphics is the biggest reason for me to stay pc.

DX12 ran so much better for me. Ultra textures, everything high except for a few things medium, 1440p. I didn't have a counter on, but it felt like it was staying around 60 more than not when I was playing online.

The game is incredible looking. Slight AA issues, but if you dare even try running MSAA even at 2x you're gonna half your frames at least. Looking forward to seeing if they can smooth out the performance issues and get it as optimized as it was claimed to be.

Yes. 1440p is the sweet spot for this generations Graphic cards.
