Just started back into this. There’s nothing more thrilling to me that getting past the beginning of the game and getting to Horseshoe Overlook where you can finally free roam!

I'm one of those guys who actually really enjoyed being stuck in the snowy mountains at the beginning. Builds such an amazing atmosphere and sets up a startling contrast once we come down in the Spring. Really makes you feel as though you've outlasted a rugged winter to some degree.

I just started my third playthrough recently and I've vowed to take my time and approach things as they come this time around. My first playthrough was the experience of it all, the second was the 100-percent completion, now I'm sort of running it like a really cool version of The Sims, just living life and keeping it real. It's actually pretty relaxing and meditative, unthethered with desperately searching for three perfect rabbit pellets and working on a dinosaur bone checklist.

I enjoyed the atmosphere in the mountains at the beginning, but I really wanted to get to the free roam portion.

So I started another play through. Mainly just to hunt and fish a ton with Arthur. Also this time on PC. Looks way better on PC.

I find hunting in this game so therapeutic. I am going to be bummed when I have everything.

Something as small as the look of fog always trips me out when playing this on PC.

                  Re: Red Dead Redemption 2

The fog is the one atmospheric/scenery/nature thing that drove me crazy in this game. London would be impressed by the amount of fog in the states of RDR2.

I've gone through stretches where every time it gets foggy I set up camp and sleep for the minimum amount of time in hopes that the fog will clear. I understand the fog in the deep south, the swamps, etc but half the time I'm in the Grizzlies I can't see five feet in front of me. I was on Barrow Lagoon the other day and could barely see the end of my own rifle. . It's also annoying because the fog masks the insane beauty of this game far too often.

I'm winding down my third playthrough. It's amazing how great Ch. 6 and the epilogue are. I was meandering about during this playthrough, not really caring about the main story (which makes sense since I've played it twice) but once we hit Ch. 6 it's all about the story.

I also had no idea that they added the LeMat and M1899 to story mode. It would have been nice to know that when I started this playthrough; I love the LeMat. I guess it's an excuse to do a fourth playthrough!

I guess being from the south, the fog never felt overdone lol.

I am amazed by the sheer number of species of birds they have in this game. My first play through I really didn't pay attention to them beyond the turkeys and ducks.

I'm post-epilogue in my third playthrough. I was hanging out near Beecher's Hope, Tall Trees, Blackwater, etc when a thunderstorm started that didn't end for five days! I kept sleeping to try to get through it because I got tired of riding through a massive storm but it didn't let up. I fast traveled too but that didn't stop it. I made a trip to St. Denis, still raining. Up to Annesburg next and for the first time in this game I saw hail...

                          <div style="width:100%;height:0px;position:relative;pad ding-bottom:56.250%;"><iframe src="https://streamable.com/e/0foncw" frameborder="0" width="100%" height="100%" allowfullscreen style="width:100%;height:100%;position:absolute;le ft:0px;top:0px;overflow:hidden;"></iframe></div>

200+ hours with this game and I'd never seen hail. Have others seen it?

After that video I went into the sheriff's office to do the final Jim Boy Calloway mission and when I came out post-cutscene there wasn't a cloud in the sky. I wonder if that triggered the nice weather and how long the storm would have lasted if I didn't start that mission.

300+ hours and I have never seen hail. I still haven't beaten the game either, lol.

64 and a half hours and I'm done...just wow man, what a story. Waiting for the PC version was cool because I got to hear all of the complaints and mostly stayed spoiler free. I really love Rockstar games so all of the slowness complaints at first I thought were about the game's mechanics, which didn't seem any slower to me than other Rockstar games. Like halfway through I started to understand that people were probably talking about the pace of the missions, which are super restrictive and a lot of travel and holding A while the cinematic camera does it's thing, but again, that's not super new for Rockstar games. All this to say I think Rockstar can do whatever they want. I fully get anyone who doesn't think its enough of a game, but if they're telling stories like this I don't mind the missions being damn near on rails. Chapter 6, the side missions and the whole aura of the characters, very few games have put that kind of mood on me for such an extended period of time, you really feel like you knew these people.
