Has anyone gone through the story strictly with the first person camera? I'm thinking of doing that on my next play through.

Nah, but I almost exclusively use it during shootouts.

It's a cool idea but I can only handle first person horse riding for so long, particularly in tight quarters with quick turns.

Also, I bounce between multiple camera angles each play because I love getting different perspectives on the game's beauty.

Played my first playthrough on Xbox and was basically 3rd person mostly, with some 1st person mixed in.

Now on PC and on my second playthrough, and I have played exclusively using 1st person. Changes the dynamic for sure, but it's been throughly enjoyable.

Early on I had to remind myself not to switch to 3rd, specifically on horseback. Now in the middle of chapter 3 I don't even think about it anymore. I'd recommend giving it a try.

                Re: Red Dead Redemption 2

With all the time on my hands suddenly i'm getting the itch to play this again.

I finished the story when it came out and absolutely hated this game. I hated how slow Arthur moved, how the camp slowed you down and I found Dutch annoying AF.

I'm wondering if I should start over again with a new playthrough, keep playing on my old save, or just get into the online.

Any of you guys have thoughts?

                  Re: Red Dead Redemption 2

Start a new one for sure. You can ignore the camp 99% of the time. You don't need to get food, supplies, etc. for your gang. I completely ignored all of that in my second playthrough and the game was more enjoyable, plus nothing negative came of me ignoring the camp.

Dutch is annoying as can be. Hell, he'll probably get on your nerves even more the second time around since you'll be more aware of it from the get-go.

The pace of the game obviously won't change. It moves slowly, but I'm not sure there's a better game for being stranded at home during a pandemic than this one. Take your time and really explore the world. Interact with everything. If that's not your cup of tea and you need action all the time then you're never going to enjoy this game.

Quoting this for emphasis. If you try to play this game like Doom I reckon it's going to feel like you're constantly fighting against the deliberate pace. But if you encounter this game for what it is - a meandering western set in one of the most beautiful and enriched environments in video game history - you're more likely to find a groove and enjoy oneself.

Thanks for the response man. The pace of Arthur himself got under my skin, not being able to sprint...of course I know now why that was, but it was annoying AF to have to slow walk everywhere.

I was cool with the exploring and all that. I think I may enjoy it a second time around, plus I got it on PC so hopefully there are some good mods.

The only time you should be forced to slow walk is when you're in camp. You were experiencing that elsewhere?

I am struggling to get in to this game as well as I feel like I am constantly struggling with the sluggish controls. It's a damn shame, too, because the 1st one is one of my all-time favorites.

This is the 3rd time I've started a new play through and I don't make it very far before throwing up my hands and saying to hell with it.

I can see that. I fought through one playthrough but don't think any game should still be introducing things five hours (or more) in like this one. I get that Rockstar wanted you to take it slow, broaden the world at a fixed pace...but this was ridiculous.

                              Re: Red Dead Redemption 2

**SPOILERS** Great game but flawed. I suppose this has been talked about before but I'm not reading the whole thread

Regarding the story, didn't like that we get to finish playing as Marston instead of Arthur or another character (Sadie would be a good one).

It doesn't make sense story wise: so Marston learns to be farm hand, shovels ****, milks cows, builds fences etc. but in RDR1 he doesn't know how to break a horse or how to herd cows? Get out of here.

In RDR1, at the beginning, Marston is de-powered (as you would expect at the start of any game) and it is at a point storywise before he learns stuff but at the end of RDR2 he already is an expert with Dead Eye, guns etc.

The Jack storyline, Jesus F. Christ, we already did this, the "he doesn't like me but I'm going to teach him stuff anyway" to the ungrateful mother****er. Glad to see that Abigail reverted back to being a nag by the end of RDR2 again, sure missed that too (not!) and need it in my life again (I don't care how "realistic" these plots are, they aren't pleasant to play/ deal with).

Gamewise, I need to talk to whoever designed the control mechanism. I mean, is that hard? You don't have testers? Are the testers morons? Are they idiots? Did they purposely tried to sabotage the game? Did they not play the game and instead falsified their observations?

The **** do I need to equip the goddamed guns EVERY SINGLE MOTHER****ING TIME that I get on the horse? Why can't there be a default set and if I want to change them depending on the mission I change them? Why? Why can't I sell guns and instead have to go through all my all guns whenever I'm going to select one?

And lets not talk about getting of the horse and not having any long guns or different guns from what you had selected.

Also, way too much using the wheel and getting stuff in the middle of missions/play, too much dead eye replenisher, too much "pausing". At some point I just want to play the game.

                              All that said:

It is clearly the most mature screenplay so far by Rockstar for this type of game (GTA/RDR). And you can see the progression too, RDR1 storyline and dialogue is good but it doesn't reaches the highs this game does. You could see the improvement from RDR1 to GTA 5 and then again here.

Did I cry? None of your business! :P

Aside from all my criticism above, this games just gives you more of the good stuff from RDR1. The hunting, the mini-games, "Strangers" missions, the "running on your horse and something happens and you go and help some poor soul" side stuff.

                              The graphics are just gorgeous.

I'm waiting on an Xbox One control to arrive so I can finish it again (but 100%) while taking my time. RDR1 is probably the game I have played the most hours in my life (over $400,000!) and I see this one as a worthy successor.

Can’t over state how much I love playing Rockstar game like RD2. I must have played about 4.5 hours today and did nothing remotely mission related to the story. Had about 3 legendary hunts, two treasure hunts from maps found in fun hidey holes, gang hideout shoutouts, and just random acts of violence while exploring the edges of the map. I will say Bandwidth estate really pissed me off so I had to go operation “Bull Run” on their behinds. Left no one alive, all because they were rude and fired on me for getting close. I also love the randomness in this game. Going along...then all the sudden hitting weird scenarios and what not. Bravo...love it.

I want to pick up GTA V again just to finish and get a modern day fix to go along with my “Westworld” fix lol
