    Yes, on a monitor.

I forgot to add that my game did crash 4 times in 2 hours of playing. I played mostly online and it was as if anything demanding were to happen to or near me then I could expect a crash.

I expect R* to get everything smoothed out soon, but this launch is a bit disappointing given all the articles there were talking about how great the game was running on all sorts of hardware. They did an excellent job making GTA V one of the best optimized games, so I'm going to have faith they'll fix the issues with this game as well.

Though.... GTA IV was never really fixed by them.

You can play in 4K, just have to put settings on High and don't use any AA, which at 4K AA is not needed anyway. But you will still need a 2080 Super or 2080ti. Gamer Nexus explained all this yesterday.

Depending on the type of game you are playing, that is definitely true. RDR2 is one of those games.

I just played another 10 minutes, 15 at most, before the game crashed. This was playing online. I was just walking on my horse and it crashed.

I'll probably just wait around until some patches stabilize this game. Such a shame.

Not true, on consoles you do not control the settings but go put no TAA and MSAA or FXAA in RD2 on pc and look at the trees. It looks like there is a tree full of shimmer

Leave MSAA and FXAA off and turn TAA to High or Medium and issue is fixed and this is at 4k

Yep, I immediately turned TAA back on after seeing the shimmering.

So what's the consensus (I've never really known), FXAA + MSAA or TAA??

Edit: meaning use either or? Not necessarily which is best for this game.

Anyone else seeing TAA tank their frame rate, though?

I'm using TAA medium + FXAA , no noticeable fps difference from one or the other or using both at the same time.

FXAA is the least performance hit but also the one that least does good for the image

MSAA is a great one that the higher it goes the better the image quality but at huge FPS cost

TAA is one that puts blur to shimmers and not as sharp as MSAA but still takes a bit of a hit.

I love TAA because it offers a happy medium

2.5 GB patch came out tonight. The game is running around 50-60 fps for me online with a mixture Ultra textures, and then high and medium everything else at 1440p. That's on a 1070ti. It looks great and I can only imagine what it would look like running at all High or even Ultra. Even my buddy who could barely run the game is now seeing similar performance on his AMD machine. However, I've still crashed another 3 or 4 times already in the 90 minutes I've tried playing since downloading the patch. Seems they possibly nailed some of the performance issues down, but the game is still crashing for whatever reason.

After the patch I am running 4k hdr with gsync with fps ranging from 55 to 75

                            averaging about 62fps

This is with Ultra textures, 16x af and a combo of high and some medium settings

DX12 as Vulkan has issues right now with frame pacing.

You must have Ultra for textures because anything below that makes the textures muddy

Took today off work since I had a dentist appointment and didn't feel like working part of the day only. I spent this morning playing Online and did not crash at all in the hour and a half I played. I also found a post on reddit with graphcis settings recommendations for 1070 users. Plugged them in for my 1070ti and they worked well. A good balance of beautiful graphics and smooth enough FPS(for me) to enjoy this game. I was averaging around 45 through gameplay mostly. It would drop to like 40-41 in towns, but out in the wilderness I was getting 45-50 in the denser forested areas while getting 50-60s in the more open areas.

I hadn't played Online in a long time, it's nice to see how much content has been added, and more importantly, the missions all have worked so far. Now, if the crashing is finally over for me then I'm about to kill a lot of time in this game until tax season.

This picture does not do it justice. This scene was beautiful when playing online. The way the pudles formed, the rain drops looked, and even the way the water ran off of the roofs, railings, and everything else... there's just so much detail. Amazing job by Rockstar.

Can I play online without randoms pulling up on me or does that just come with the territory?
