    Red Dead Redemption 2

Man, I am beyond stoked to get more story and gameplay with, IMO, the best videogame character of all-time.

      Re: Red Dead Redemption 2

I'm pleased it's taking place in 1899. That'd put John Marston in his mid-20's and not too far removed from the previous game (1911).

Seems as though there may be some more information coming via IGN tomorrow. Hoping for some actually information on what this game's bringing to the table.

Like that the narrative seems solid, but still worried about the level of microtransactions Rockstar will throw in.

What I'm hoping, what I'm really hoping, is that Battlefront's idiocy scares companies off hamfisted moves like microtransactions. But I have little faith now.

I mean, GTA V was supposed to get tons of story DLC. But nope. Just more crap for a mode I NEVER FRIGGIN' PLAYED MORE THAN ONCE. After a point, I refused to start playing again out of spite.

I'll be surprised if this isn't my favorite game of all time. It's going to be everything I've hoped for and more.

Sounds great! Love the interactions with NPCs, and if that's the new standard, GTA VI is going to be awesome!

That IGN article was pretty good and it got me even more excited for the game. Does anyone know why we can't pre-order it digitally yet?

I'm really not worried about micro transactions with RDR2. Say what you want about GTA5, but the campaign itself was meaty and well done. Ive played through it 3 or 4 times. And that was a port. Plus the general tone surrounding micros now and I think we're good. We all know there will be an online component that'll mirror GTA Online. If the campaign is as good, maybe actually release story DLC, I'll be good.

That article may be the best thing I've ever read concerning a video game, but this is honestly has been the game I've been looking forward to for years now. I buy the yearly sport games and occasional other games but this is the one for me. This will be incredible and I may have to take TWO weeks off work for this.

Some cliffnotes from the IGN article copied over from Reddit:

                            1. Can rob people

                            2. Dialogue choices

                            3. NPCs will react differently depending on your behavior, appearance, actions

                            4. You can pour coffee and check up on your gang

                            5. You can care for your gang and be rewarded for looking after them

                            6. Small scale robbery with Bill was shown

                            7. Demo took place in New Hanover (Handover?)

                            8. You can watch farmers herd animals, bugs in your ears

                            9. Demo was on base PS4

                            10. You can skin animals. It’s graphic, you can either drop the carcass or put it on your horse

                            11. Animals shot can be injured and attempt to escape. You can follow trails of blood to find the animal and then kill it.

                            12. Meat and animals will rot.

                            13. Amount of meat is based on how you kill it. Arrows will get you the most whereas weapons like shotguns won’t.

                            14. Your bond with your horse will result in different behaviors. If it’s strong, it’ll stick with you during gunfights

                            15. Your weapons will be stored on the horse. Take care of it. If it dies, you’ll have to start the bonding process over with a new horse

                            16. If injured, your horse can bleed out. If you wait too long, the horse can die.

                            17. The robbery takes place in Valentine. Not clear if it’s free roam, side mission, or story mission

                            18. Continuous camera, not different angles and shots. You can watch everything from one single camera angle.

                            19. Dead Eye returns. Camera angles change depending on how you kill the person using Dead Eye

                            20. In the robbery, someone shot Arthur’s hat and it fell off into the mud. You can return to the town and pick it up

                            21. You groom and feed your horse, calm it when agitated and it stays put when you dismount so you must be nearby to call it. You can grow a bond with your mount that makes it respond better to what you want it to do and makes it more relaxed

                            22. You can react to people in different ways I.e when meeting someone 'Greet or Antagonise'

                            23. Large carcasses rot if left out too long which equals less pay

                            24. You also get more reward for a clean kill (arrows) from butcher

                            25. Deadeye is basically the same as old game

                            26. Horses carry your weapons and they won't run off cliffs or do stupid things like before

                            27. You can affect the mood at camp by making sure they have enough food, resources which affects morale if positive they will be dancing, singing and telling stories

                            28. Found out names of some unknown gang members: Lenny, Karen, Sean McGuire (who is described as an Irish joker) Pearson (cook) Micha Bell and Sadie

                            29. Your hat can fall off and you have to go back and pick it up or buy a new one

                            30. New camps will be made often as the law heats up on Dutch

I feel like a couple of shots in the trailer were actual "gameplay shots," like from in-game cameras as you are playing itself. Loved the dynamic appearance of it.

I think that one is still open to interpretation. After I read through the article, it sounds like it was referencing a potential side mission, I'm guessing similar to how we'd stumble upon someone asking if we'd like to partake in a herb-hunting contest in RDR.

Pearson is the camp cook and when Arthur walks past he’s told the meat supply is running low. Importantly, this isn’t a cutscene that triggers a mission, it plays out as Morgan is walking along, still sipping his coffee. That’s the case with almost every interaction we saw throughout the demo – the camera doesn’t cut away, instead keeping you at the heart of the action, with interactions triggered through a combination of proximity or Arthur choosing to continue the conversation. As a result it felt Morgan had a choice: he could ignore Pearson’s plea and talk to someone else, but in this instance he agrees to help.
