But if you have not played the 1st one yet.....it is cool and it was a fantastic game. But I already played it to death and this game is simply a massive improvement in so many significant ways.

I agree. I’m just talking plot wise. I’d like to check out RD1 on One X anyways. I still haven’t played it since theycebhdnced it.

      Re: Red Dead Redemption 2

I think my only complaint after a few days is that the music was far better in RDR. I loved the Ennio Morricone vibe of RDR. It added so much to the atmosphere and immersion. I also wish the night sky popped more like in RDR. Even at 3 AM the sky is pretty bright around the horizon for all 360 degrees in RDR2.

I'm about a dozen hours in and I've got a feel for how everything works. It was a bit rocky in the beginning since this is such a big departure from a typical Rockstar game and there is so much new stuff to figure out.

So say I um found a horse I'd like to make my own, the one that comes when I whistle, has my saddlebags and all that. How do I do that?

After a certain story mission the game allowed me the option to remove the saddle off my horse and place it on any other horse, which I can continue to do any subsequent times as well; the one that hoists the saddle is considered to be yours. To clarify, this mission doesn't happen really late in the game or anything. If you know me then you know I'm going to go through this story super slowly, and only access missions out of necessity whilst I do other things all the meanwhile.

I started playing about seven hours ago today, and maybe five hours ago I was going to stop. Then one thing led to another. The same exact thing happened in RDR. Normally it has to do with stranger encounters taking me off the beaten path.

Really enjoying the game but these controls

I have been bouncing back and forth between this and Black ops. It’s like writing with a pen and then switching to write with a rock, lol.

Ok so I bring up my map, I want to pick a location or person to travel to: Why won’t it show me a path on my map? I’ve seen a lot of people with a red line on their maps showing the best route of travel?

One of the options in the game settings is to turn on GPS Route, which is off by default. It might be in Display settings. I think it was at the very bottom of one of those pages.

I'm leaving it off myself, and I'm actually mostly leaving the radar off completely unless I really need it during a battle of sorts (I just tap Down to expand it when I need to).

                  Red Dead Redemption 2

Finding all the different in-game systems I am forced to keep track of a bit much. Pile on trying to remember what button does what and I feel totally overwhelmed at times. Was hoping to use the game as a distraction from some real life stuff going on at the moment, but will have to put it in the back burner until I can play with a clear mind not already cluttered with other things. Hoping it all becomes clearer and a more enjoyable experience then.

This game looks like it really needs some modding, so I'll just wait on the PC version.

we can be honest about the control scheme.

It is hot garbage and it hurts the immersion because you feel like you're constantly fighting it. I.E. - to use binoculars you have to hold LB, hit RB, find it on the scroll then release LB. It's so unnatural.

Also a lot of tasks in the game are tedious for the sake of being tedious without adding much to the experience. lol who fires up a video game and looks forward to making sure their character cooks and eats on schedule? I shot an animal but the pelt wasn't perfect so i need to go get the right bullets that'll get me the perfect pelt then when i randomly find 3 of these animals and shoot them all in the perfect spot with the right bullets... i can finally get... a new belt. it goes on and on. like.. why?
Yeah the controls were my main gripe about the first RDR, I was hoping they would change them to a more modern style like Assassin's Creed or Tomb Raider.

Sounds like we have a similar methodology. I wanna play with all the mechanics but I guess I have to do some story missions. And what do you know? The next mission I did I'm swapping saddles.

I just stumbled upon this last night, go into settings and turn HDR off in the game menu and you will see a huge difference, the game looks far better with HDR off, they need a fix for this. With HDR on its so washed out it amazed me.

Please if anyone can check this and tell me your seeing the same thing, I'm keeping HDR off in game for now until they patch this if they ever do.
Yeah people are saying it looks better with HDR off. Honestly it's the first game that I haven't been blown away by the graphics since I got my Samsung and the Pro. Going to turn HDR off next time I load it up. Hopefully it can be addressed in a patch.

Yeah, I know it's fun to free roam right off the bat but it really does help a lot to do the first 6-8 missions. You unlock some things that make free roaming much easier.
