I believe the real number is 69, not 79.
The issue with GTA V is outside of the main story missions there are not a ton of things to do like there are in the games you listed. Half of the side activities in GTA V were just talking with your psychiatrist. San Andreas had a large arsenal of things to do on the side plus double the storyline missions that were not simply steal a 4 door car and park it in an alley like GTA V had.
I still beat V's story multiple times and had fun with it, but it's a very lacking game and their decisions on DLC made the situation worse. A summer or two ago I speed ran through III, VC, SA, and V. V was the one I beat 2nd fastest after GTA III because of how short and simple too many of the missions are.
I'd like to see RDR 2 focus more on the depth of missions and making sure that even if it only has 65 missions, they all take time. Having under 70 missions like V did and having 10 or so of them all being literally under 60 seconds of activity is not a good look and where my complaints fall with V.
EDIT: I see where it has 79 if you are counting all of the choices you could make in the game, but in each playthrough it's the 69.
