2nd boss down, I think this was my 6th or 7th try. Video behind the spoiler tag:

Needless to say, not how I expected the end of the fight to go. I thought I had it free with being able to hold onto my LW this time as long as I did (with full intent to use it), but she had other ideas! I knew it was coming too - I dodged it earlier in the fight, but just couldn't pull back quick enough. All's well that ends well.
The magic I used at the start and end of the fight was the Weakness one that lowers defense. Needed a paralysis cure or two also because even while holding an accessory that guards against it, I still got hit somehow.

I just felt like some of the mission design later on felt a little lazy and tacked on. Not the environments as they were pretty cool but the enemies and bosses. The fact that the last mission recycles bosses from the past was a complete turnoff for me. The last boss was a cool fight and I did enjoy the scale of the hydra fight.
I just think that the bosses towards the end some of them could have been better. Some of the human based fights seemed a little tacked on, while the Attack on Titan style giant skeleton was badass. That's my two cents I guess.
I actually enjoyed it as it highlighted my growth as a player from beginning to end.Comment

Re: Nioh
Ok, I'm getting pretty annoyed here. How to do I get back to the main map area? Just beat the second level and accidentally went to the training dojo...wtf?Comment

Re: Nioh
Use one of them branch items and it will take you to the main map

Re: Nioh
Yeah, about 45mins after my post I did just that. Went online to do some research on it and it was pretty slim as far as clear answers to that question. Pretty freaking dumb IMO to have to burn through one of those to get back to the general main map area, but I suppose shame on me for not paying close enough attention. Anyway, back in biz.Comment

There are 4 items I've run across that are related to travel/aborting a mission, 2 consumables and 2 non-consumables:
Travel Charm (consumable): Exactly like the Homeward Bone - return to the last Shrine you visited without loss of Amrita
Harakiri Sword (non-consumable): Also exactly how it sounds - but in a rather different way. Exactly like the Darksign - return to the last Shrine, but kill yourself to do it. It's not difficult to find - I think it was on the coast of the first level before the boss.
Himorogi Branch (consumable): As mentioned above, Return to the world map without losing Amrita
Himorogi Fragment (non-consumable): Return to the world map, losing all Amrita. I don't believe this counts as a death. Unfortunately I don't remember off-hand how I got this, though it couldn't have been too difficult.Comment

Re: Nioh
You can also use a non-consumable item called a Himorogi Fragment (as opposed to the consumable Himorogi Branch) as the equivalent of Dark Souls "Darksign" - You lose all Amrita and return to the map.

Yes, I specifically used the Himorogi Fragment. I was in the training dojo and had no access to any of my saved items besides the fragment. Still kinda stupid having to do that. I'd imagine the look on my face was hysterical when this happened, but I went into total panic, meltdown mode at the time.Comment

The fragment is given to you each time you go to a training mission in the dojo and does not come out of your personal stash. It never costs anything to enter or leave training.

I'm glad to see you guys still going hard. I'm taking a break for a bit because I have the PMP certification exam coming up on April 8th. Now, once I put that behind me I'll be BACK! Nioh, playing Watch Dogs 2, definitely picking up Horizon Zero Dawn and maybe even Ghost Recon. I'm gonna be broke behind these games lol
