Haven't had much trouble with the bosses. Onryoki took a few tries and Nue on the second try. But before going to the next region a sub mission opens up and this boss genuinely gave me some trouble. Several tries later, I finally won. I didn't have Living Weapon and didn't have any means to get it and didn't want to use an item to exit the mission. For like 15-20 minutes I mostly moved in a non-stop circle around the area, waiting for one or two specific attacks that I knew I could get one hit in. We occasionally played ring around the rosie by this rock, I was throwing bombs, Kunai, Shurikens and whatever else. No honor. Get cheesed.

You can use spirit stones, they fill up your amrita and you can use living weapon. I've got about 50 large spirit stones in my quick slot just in case I need that boost.

They don't respawn unless you call back your guardian spirit after dying and I think if you pray at a previous shrine.

Seems that way. Other Yokai that are on the prowl already seem to be there always.

I'm really liking the magic side of the coin in this game. I've got 7 talismans quickslotted I believe. Using carnage and sloth on bosses really lets you go to town on them.

I think I'm up around level 55 now and the way that my combat strategy has evolved thanks to the unlocking of some really awesome skills has made the game an absolute blast to this point.

I'm so scared to spec incorrectly on magic and skills that I haven't explored that side much, just been attributes spec. Can you respec later on if you mess up/don't like your choices?

Yup. You can buy a book of reincarnation from the blacksmith that lets you redistribute all of your points. You get them from mission rewards occasionally too. However, each time you but them from the blacksmith they do go up in price so while they're unlimited (I think), they get ridiculously expensive after a while.

I just getting to the second shrine on the island after you get out of training and finally start playing. Man, those guys that spawn from the bloody grave do some serious damage. I've not beaten one yet. Lol

My Onryioki battle. This last little section of the level took me like three days because I could only get to play like 10 minutes at a time. I hesitated getting on the ship because I knew some **** was about to go down. Fun fight, though. After a lot of trial and error, I realized that I wasn't managing my stamina using the battle axe very well. I can get two full swings on high stance as long as my Ki is full before I swing. Once I made note of that I beat him the next try.

Good to know. I'm waiting for someone to post a good Dual Sword build on reddit or a wiki somewhere so I can know where the soft caps are. Guessing that being below level 20 though I don't have to worry about that right now.

Yeah, I wouldn't worry at all right now. Just kind of experiment with weapons and see what you like, then respec into skills that complement those weapons when you're ready.

I'm mid 50s right now and still haven't respecced as I'm still unsure of what weapon combo I find the best. I'm really attached to spears, swords, and kusarigamas, and have yet to really decide on what I'll continue using in the late game.

I keep rolling and attacking. Just remembered that I have the ability to block. That's not an option in Bloodborne and I've not played a Souls game yet so I'm still getting used to that. Just beat the Level 7 revenant fairly easily. Lol

How did you get sloth? Did you have to do something in order to get it? I can't unlock it yet.

After a certain amount of main missions you unlock the way of the onmyo adept side mission. Once you complete that you can unlock it.

There's also another source of books later on in the game. You use the glory you've earned from fighting revenants and trade it in for items. The book starts out at 800 then 1100 which is really cheap.
