    Re: 2018 Gaming Plans

Rolling in my new GTX 1060 3GB since March and having a blast (but already missing the extra VRAM).

    Completed:

    - Rise of the Tomb Raider (awesome, gorgeous, a joy to play).
    - Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice (bit clunky, bit short, but an interesting story with incredible graphics. Worth it).
    - Inside (very intriguing and creative, couldn't stop playing it, I like Limbo and this one is much better).
    - Telltale's Walking Dead Michonne and The New Frontier (the series is getting worse and worse, it's probably the last I'll play of it).
    - NieR: Automata (MASTERPIECE. Seriously, the best game I have played in my life. Raised the bar in creativity, gameplay, storytelling and butts. 10/10).

    Abandoned:

    - FIFA 18 (what a disappointment! Great graphics, good animation, ****ty gameplay. Worst AI I've seen in a soccer game since the 32-bit era. Get your **** together, EA).
    - Project CARS 2 (too realistic for its own good. I don't have a wheel neither that much free time to dedicate for something so complicated. Sim racers should love it, tho).
    - South Park: The Fractured But Whole (love South Park, hate turn-based RPGs. Not for me).
    - Cupcake (cool game, probably one of the best couch multiplayers someone can get, but I have no friends and more interesting games to play. Oh, and it's too damn hard, I'd never beat it anyway).
    - Life is Strange: Before the Storm (uuuuugh, the cringe almost killed me!!! Burned it with fire).

    Playing:

    - F1 2017 (some bugs but it's really good. Decent physics, decent AI and yes yes yes, a difficulty slider! The F1 game I was waiting for).
    - The Witcher 3 (disliking the pace of the story in the beginning but I'm nitpicking, the game is awesome, I never saw an open world so well made outside of the GTA series - this one is probably even better).
    - Resident Evil 7 (feels great, but I'm too scared to play it. Seriously, it makes me so tense I'm avoiding it. Maybe this is... good? I don't even know).
    - Batman: Arkham Knight (average at best. Less interesting than Arkham City. Batmobile sections are terrible. 6/10 and I'm being generous).
    - Batman: The Telltale Series (same old Telltale, nothing serious. I'm liking the plot. Good replacement for The Walking Dead).

Future plans: Forza Horizon 3 (or 4), Forza Motorsports 7 (hoping it's more forgiving than PCars), Final Fantasy XV. Debating if I should get Wolfenstein II, I want to play it but I feel like this game is gonna make me puke from motion sickness. Fingers crossed to see Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC and in the next season I'm probably switching my soccer game to PES 2019 after 10 years of FIFA.

I mostly stuck to my list but added a few games to the list like Madden 19, BF V, and Forza 4. I also may pick up NBA 2k19 depending on how good the gameplay is.

The one game that I wish I didn't buy was Sea of Thieves. It looked like it could be a fun game from the trailers but I ended up not really liking it at all and it's now uninstalled and I will probably never install it again.

        Re: 2018 Gaming Plans

So I got Forza Horizon 3. Love/hate relationship. The game is phenomenal, maybe the most addictive racing game I've ever played, makes me smile like a baby. But it's also the worst optimization for PC I've ever seen. It runs like crap, 30 fps at medium/high settings with heavy (I mean HEAVY) stuttering. The stuttering won't go away even in minimum settings. Any other game I tried in this rig runs smoothly at 60 fps in high/ultra.

So I discovered severe performance issues seem to be the norm in UWP games, then I won't even think about getting them anymore if they're not absolutely essential (as Horizon 3 is - I can't return it, I love it). And this makes me toss Forza 7 out of my list.

Horizon and Witcher 3 will get me occupied for a while now. The next game I'm getting after this is most probably gonna be Final Fantasy XV. I read some criticism about the story, but I just can't skip this one after watching its gameplay videos, it looks gorgeous. And I'm thinking about The Evil Within 2. It looks above average, but I still don't know, especially because I haven't played - and have no interest in playing - the first one.

So many games, so little time... My childhood problems got reversed.

Cant wait for spiderman ps4 also looking forward to Shadow of the tomb raider. Its to bad that they come out so close together though. There are some other games I am looking forward to but spiderman and shadow of the tomb raider will take up most of my time the rest of the year I think. I start collage again soon and I am not going to have much free time this semester. So I dont think I am going to have much time out side of those 2 games. I am most likely only going to have like 1 free day a week because I will be working 3-4 days a week and be in school all day and I mean all day 2 days a week.

Still mostly playing MLB The Show 18.

In other news, traded in my XB1 S in July, as I just wasn't using it. Put that credit towards a New Nintendo 2DS XL (Hylian Shield edition), and have been using that more than my Switch. Just finished The Legend of Zelda A Link Between Worlds. It was my second play through, and had a blast. Amazing game.

Looking at picking up Octopath Traveler, Spider-Man and NBA 2K19 before the year is out.
              Currently Playing:
              MLB The Show 25 (PS5)

                Juarassic World Evolution
                No Mans Sky
                MLB the Show 18
                Spiderman

WWE 2K19 and Red Dead Redemption 2 are maybes for now, but will likely pick up RDRII in January but I am just unsure about WWE this year.

                  Re: 2018 Gaming Plans

This is turning into a epic year gaming for me after a taking a bit of a break in recent years plus entertaining me as I swear off dating forever lol

                  Playing Now
The Frozen Wilds - I just started the DLC up and have completed one side mission and its just a beautiful scenery with the snow. I'm on level 45 now so hoping this will get me the level 50 trophy and get me most of the skill points I need. It looks like its going to be dang good and just different enough to freshen it up.

A Way Out - I am still enjoying this just haven't got around to scheduling a time with my cousin. Looking back I prob waited to much in between playing as its not a very long game. The co op part is neat and its a good simple story and I am glad to see a unique game that's specifically built for 2 people. I will go back and play it again with someone else and the 2nd person doesn't need the game. One more play through should finish it up.

                  Completed
Detroit Become Human - I loved this game and its a all time classic for me and goes down as my favorite ps4 game. The way the story unfolds it always had me just wanting to play 1 more chapter.

Heavy Rain - After finishing Detroit I was excited this became available for free as I haven't played it for the ps4 and loved it on the ps3. I still enjoyed it and this was my 3rd time completing it, but Detroit beats it pretty easily for me. Especially since I remembered most the major story parts of the game which I guess is a sign they did a good job. The controls and camera shaking didn't age as well as I expected and my cat wasn't as fan either as I accidently nailed him in the head during it lol. I must have made the same choices I did the very first time as I got the horrible ending so I had to go back and replay the last chapter one time.

NBA2K18 - After playing this and updating my dynasty on here just about every day for 9 months I have finally retired this and traded in my copy. I ended up going till the year 22/23 and finally wining a championship with the 76ers in the last year. It was prob the most fun team I've ever built.

Horizon Zero Dawn - After saying in my first post in this thread I don't play games for 40 hours and do a lot of side quest. When I get done with the DLC that will put me around the 70 hour mark (currently 53) and completed every side quest and errand. I do have a few odds and ends stuff and my current completion rate is at 64% I had a GameStop buy 2 get 1 free coupon so got this for dirt cheap. Its a bit out of my comfort zone so I wasn't sure if I would even like it. I put it in to try it out and the rest is history. Its just a awesome game and really impressed with the story for a open world game. It goes on my top 4 games for the ps4.

                  Backlog
Far Cry 5 - After playing several open world games I think I will start something else up next to mix it up. I do want to play this before RDR comes out as I don't want to wait till 2019.

Detroit Become Human I am ready for a 2nd play through

Uncharted Collection - I have yet to play this on ps4 and have played them all twice on ps3. I am thinking about starting up the first one sometime in the month of Sept.

Lost Legacy - My friend is suppose to bring this to me Friday to borrow can't wait for this

Batman Telltale - Not sure when I will be able to play this since Detroit was so good, but it was free so no rush

                  Pre Ordered
NBA 2K19 - I will be doing another dynasty report on here when it comes out.

RDR 2 - The first ever non sports game I've pre ordered 10-26 can't get here fast enough. I will have 1 month to play before I go on my vacation (cruise)

Not Sure When I Will Get
Spiderman Like everyone else I am excited for this just as a cheap gamer I will likely hold off till black Friday or early 2019.

Shadow Of Tomb Raider Same as above I just don't think I will have much time in the fall for games outside of 2K and RDR and I am not one to buy games and sit them on
the shelf unless I get them for about $ 20

I am very picky with the non sports games I play in short I play AAA blockbuster games with good stories that are mostly set in the present day. I don't play online and don't prefer the scifi or AC type games. I have a short attention span so I am not going to play a game for 40 hours and do all the side collection stuff.

I had got rise of the tomb raider on ps4 for about $20 since I enjoyed the last one on PS3. It sit untouched for a few months and then when I played it I loved it and got the fire back for non sports game. My skill level in games isn't good so putting it on easy really helped no matter how fun a game is when I die 5,849 times its not fun. I also was never confused about where to go or what to do outside a few small puzzles. It isn't the best game I have played on PS4, but is the one I had the most fun with (if that makes sense)

I bought "A way out" and I am playing it with my cousin and enjoying it one more time playing it should complete it.

I am still playing NBA2k18 and hope to take a few weeks off before the new one comes out if I can ever win a championship lol. I have 2k19 preordered so watching the offseason unfold to see what team I will do my deep dive my league in.

I had some coupons for GameStop so I picked up Detroit Become Human for under $40 and after about 1 hour playing it I know its going to be a classic. I loved Heavy Rain and this looks like it could be better then it since the voice acting is better.

My friend is going to let me borrow Uncharted Lost Legacy so looking forward to that.

RDR holds a special place in my heart as its the game that got me to enjoy and try non sports game. I am a cheap gamer so I have never payed $60 for a non sports game. I am leaning toward preordering it soon.

If I get caught up before 2k19 comes out I have batman telltale downloaded so I wil try and knock that out before sept.

I still have a buy 2 get 1 free coupon for GameStop so looking at games like far cry 5, horizon 0 dawn, uncharted collection. The coupon expires 7-31 and the next few months is the time for me to play new games without sports, new tv shows and before the fall games come out.

I will try and hold out a till black Friday or so for Spiderman

                    2018 Gaming Plans

                    August Update

                    Currently playing:

Madden 19 - Very fun game. Ever since 15, EA has continued to make strides every year. The gameplay is the best it’s ever been on All-Madden with sliders. With Madden, you have to take the good with the bad. Every year there will be something that’s disappointing; CPU running game this year. However, I’ve come to accept that with Madden.

Rocket League - Addicting game. It seems almost every match goes down to the wire. Sure it gets a bit tiring after awhile, every game does, but I always come back to it and have a great time. I’ve been playing on and off since the beta and I don’t I will ever put the game down for good.

                    Rest of the year purchases:

                    Red Dead Redemption 2

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4

                    Undecided:

                    NBA 2K19

A quarter through the year and only 3 games on my list have been released. 2 have been non-purchases for me (The Show, for reasons that are discussed well enough in that forum, and Far Cry 5 because I haven't quite felt like committing to it yet). Dissidia was a Day 1 buy, but I haven't touched it since the first day or 2. Not a bad game, just nothing really there to keep me coming back to it. God of War looks great, but it's kind of in Far Cry 5 territory me. I know I'd love it if i picked it up, but I probably wouldn't commit much time to play it right now so I might as well just wait for it to go on sale.

Not on the list I picked up Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet. Probably the best SAO game I've played froma combat perspective, but I haven't played it much.

                      Currently Playing
Picked up Ghost Recon Wildlands last week on sale. It occupied a good bit of my time over the weekend. I can see myself sinking some time into it.

Out of the Park Baseball 19. Fantastic game.

Overwatch...many things about it frustrate me, but I'm on almost every night for 2-3 hours with a few friends.

                      Up next
Battletech is set to release next week. That one I'm pretty excited about, but it looks like the rest of my 2018 games are looking at late Q3/Q4.
Started out this year thinking it would be a very expensive one for me. It's turned out to be one of the cheapest ever for me. The only 2018 releases I
                      have purchased this year are

Out of the Park Baseball 19
                      Dissidia Final Fantasy.

Dissidia was a major disappointment but ootp has been a lot of fun.

I've made a handful of Steam purchases for very old games, but by far my most played games of 2018 have been (and currently are)

                      Overwatch
                      Guild Wars 2
                      Diablo 3

                        Currently Playing:

                        God of War (PS4)
                        Dead Cells (Switch)

                        Preordered:

                        Fire Pro Wresting World (PS4)
                        Red Dead Redemption 2 (PS4)

Then I have a long list of about 15 games (not counting whatever indies find their way to Switch) either already released or coming in the future I want to play. Will get to those when I get to them. I refuse to build anything even close to resembling a backlog ever again. Feels good to be free of that mess.

                          Only 15???

My backlog is 10 games or so. Games with a release date between August 28th and March 31st 2019 is 16 games. My futurelog (games without a confirmed release date) is around 30 games. Total is at least 55 games.

                          Damn rookies. LOL.

If we're counting all the PS2, PS3, 360, DS, PSP, GBA, 3DS, Vita and PS4 games I own, pretty sure my backlog is in the triple digits.

I've stopped paying attention to the number and just focus on playing games when I get interested in picking them up. I'll get to most of them eventually.

Hard to believe this year is almost 3/4 complete.

                              Currently Playing
                              MLB 18
                              Madden 18
                              Everybody's Golf

At the start of the month, I decided to reboot both my MLB and Madden dynasties. No plans to get Madden 19 and I'm hoping to skip MLB 19.

                              Plan to Purchase
                              Shadow of the Tomb Raider
                              Spider-Man
                              Injustice 2

SotTR is already pre-ordered. I'm going to wait to get SM on sale. IJ2 is currently on sale for $30, but I'm going to hold out and hope for a better BF sale.

                              Purchased in 2018
                              Marvel vs Capcom Infinite
                              MLB 18
                              NHL 18
                              Disney Infinity 2.0

I broke down and got MvCI on sale earlier this year so I could have a Marvel fighting game. DI2 got me for the same reason since it's Marvel. Snagged NHL 18 for $10. I really want to love that game, but it gives me more frustration than joy.

Other than that, I've been good about not adding to the backlog.

                              Completed in 2018
                              Rise of the Tomb Raider

Finally completed this. I'm loving the rebooted series.

                              Freebies added in 2018
                              Fortnite
                              Knack
                              Ratchet & Clank
                              Bloodborne
                              Rayman Legends

Fortnite is the only one I've actually played. I suck at it. Not my thing. I want to eventually get around to Knack, R&C and RL.

                              Backlogged
                              Batman (Asylum, City and Knight)
Bioshock 2 and Infinite. I beat Infinite back on the PS3 but want to replay it on the PS4.
                              Gran Turismo Sport
                              F1 17
                              The Last of Us
                              The Witcher 3
Wolfenstein (New Order and Old Blood)
Call of Duty (Black Ops III, Modern Warfare, Infinite Warfare and WWII)
Tomb Raider/Rise of the Tomb Raider - I've completed the stories, but I want to go back and find everything in each of them.

                              Given Up On/Deleted
                              Assassin's Creed Syndicate
                              Battlefield 4
                              Star Wars Battlefront
                              NBA 2K17
                              WWE 2K16

NHL 18 and Fortnite may wind up on this list soon.

Sad thing is that I have a host of backlogged games and games coming out in the very near future that I want to get and play, but whenever I have time to play, I always play MLB The Show '18.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(
