Battlefield just tried to become something that it was not. It was a rise in popularity due to its shift in philosophy, but it couldn't sustain it at all. I really do think they tried too hard to combine the classic BF gameplay with fast-paced action gameplay to attract the CoD crowd. It all started with BF3. 3 and 4 were very popular games, but they were the beginning of what we are seeing now. I do believe if the series had stuck to its roots that it wouldn't be in the spot that it is now.

BF4 was amazing.

DICE alienated its fan base plain and simple. They even said: "If you don't like it, dont buy it." Mmk, sure will.

BF4 while it did course correct somewhat it was a disaster for many months at the start. The servers were so bad they had to restructure there system. I played it on PS4 & know first hand how bad it was. It's funny looking back at the posts in this thread. DICE/EA just botched this game from start to nearly the finish. They marketed it terribly, they had no clear vision at the start. It was a mess.

It's funny seeing myself talk about my disappointment in the game and whatnot. Now that I took an extended break from it, it received a plethora of patches and content releases, and the hype for 2042 brought me back, I'm all in on this game. It is an absolute blast.

It makes me a bit sad that the game in this state isn't what was launched. Had this game been what they launched, with a much better marketing plan, who knows how different the life for this game is.

I went back and watched that reveal trailer and I still don't understand how anyone thought it was a great idea to release that.

I think I just set the bar really low for shooters, because I liked the game from the start. I have not played in a while because my buddy quit playing, but I had a blast.

My favorite game mode was also the one where you had to build the radio towers, so that tells you all you need to know.

That mode was dead by the time I came back which is a shame because I feel like I would have loved it.

Somehow my ******* self still got 1000 hours out of it.

I wish they would have put a big disclaimer that spectator mode is broken because everyone is constantly accusing our clan of hacking because they see stuff like this (I made this as a joke).
