There's this, there's actually evidence of auto aiming "whip" mechanic on some SMG's as well.

However, they did just release a "hotfix" for a handful of things that they got MAJOR flak for...the 3D spotting (enemies showing up through smoke, buildings, etc.) is gone, and then they buffed a few of the guns that they screwed up with the original 5.2 patch. I haven't played it yet, but in my pissed off stretch that I had with this game, I bought MW for $38 since so many of my buddies play it; we'll see how that goes, since I told myself I wouldn't cave in.
Several of the guys in our clan just don't want to play it and I kind of concur with them. I've tried a few times... played enough earlier to unlock the BAR, but the rest of the game is so frustrating now.

Even with the hotfix I can't reprogram my mind to play the game differently. There's barely any recoil on anything now and it still takes entirely too long to kill for me. Some weapons like the BREDA are back to a 1 burst kill under 10m, STG, Lewis, etc. are okay. The whole meta of the game is just off.

Enemy teams just zerg now and there's really not much of a reason not to use the ZH-29 over most of the assault semi autos.

The only thing worth doing right now is 16v16 Frontlines or 8v8 Squad Conquest vs other clans. Everything else sucks. You're right about the auto aim whipping... it's definitely in the game now and Dice was denying it, but it's been proven and not being able to disable it really hurts when you're targeting multiple people.

I wish Dice had just left it alone and worked on maps/weapons. There was actually some skill involved with the gun play and I enjoyed it. The way they operate that studio in Sweden now compared to years past is mind boggling.

I think pubg could be morphed into a pretty killer BF game actually.

        Re: Battlefield V

I think the most disappointing thing to me is it seemed like they were finally getting their stride back with the Pacific, gun play was good, etc.

Some people crying because they don't know how to actually use some of the weapons in the game are the vocal minority. That's the reasoning for the 5.2 changes. That's why I made the switch to L1/R1 for aim and fire this year. I made the effort to get better and learn the weapons and how to handle the way they fire. If you're getting zapped by a Tommy at range and you're using an LMG or semi auto then it's your own fault. The majority of people still playing this far in deserve to have their voice heard, but they would rather flip the game upside down to try to attract more Christmas people. No kid is going to their parents and asking for BFV for Christmas lol.

I've always hated entitled gamers and I try not to be, but Battlefield V has been a slap in the face. I've defended Dice and praised them for years on this site and to other people, but BFV I couldn't recommend to anyone. Reddit has uncovered everything they denied. The auto aim, obvious TTK change even though they denied it, etc. They have insulted the community's intelligence and people won't forget it or trust them going forward.

Just think back to the reveal of the game and the promised direction, the road maps that have been useless, multiple game modes implemented for a few weeks and then axed because they were a waste of time, etc. Not a single thing has released on time. I don't know if it's just Dice or what, but a lot of EA studios are doing the same thing. It seems like a company wide problem and Dice is just the latest to take the best console shooter experience and **** it up.

          Re: Battlefield V

It is a shame what this franchise has turned into. I only played 1 and V because I got them free. I know many here and elsewhere love games 3 and 4, but that's where I felt the series began its downward turn. Bad Company 2 was possibly the best in the series or is really close with 2, but it seems everything that game had going for it and had improved on over past games was changed for the worse moving forward. BF3 was made to be faster paced, the vanilla maps were not nearly as BF-like, they were more linear, destruction was worse. The gunplay became more streamlined despite the bigger arsenal to choose from. I don't like using the word casual, but I feel saying the series became more casual sums it up perfectly. The pacing became quicker, the gameplay became more streamlined. It was a clear shift to try and draw in more of the CoD crowd that was used to the run and gun in that series.

I feel like BF1 became comical with how quick it played and how every gun was practically a laser. BFV actually tried changes I thought would slow the game down a bit, and it seemed to at first, but it is still just so fast and doesn't play as good of a game.

Battlefield 2, 2142, and the Bad Company games were so much slower paced and the guns had more character to them. That's just not the case anymore in the series and the main reason I don't touch the games anymore really. I really tried to enjoy V, but I just can't play it anymore, even before this latest update.

I still enjoyed 3 and 4 despite what was obvious in terms of the direction they were taking the game, but the series has gone past the point of where I can handle it anymore. I prefer slower games that are a bit more methodical these days. Running around and shooting lasers with no recoil isn't fun to me. I enjoy games now, shooters included, that are as much mental as they are anything else. Maybe that's just come with getting older and BF isn't tailored towards people like me, it really isn't, but I like the chess battle in games more than I do just being able to run around and gunning people down. Bad Company 2 wasn't some super technical game, but it had a good blend to make me love it. The series doesn't have that anymore.

I haven't played since before the Pacific came out. I still think that they had a Fortnite/Apex Legends like idea for their cosmetics and online until the backlash made them scrap it. Too much time chasing trends ie Firestorm and making things solely for TDM style modes. Now the game is really only left with diehards.

              Re: Battlefield V

Battlefield is probably my favorite all-time video game series and I still play V despite its flaws, but I have to say no development team handles marketing and community worse than DICE. It's remarkable. From the first tone-deaf reveal trailer and information to now, they've basically intentionally insulted, attacked and straight-up lied to the diehards that play the game. Entitled gamers can be ridiculous and some BF complaints are eye-rolling but overall DICE is total disaster of a team, especially if you look back to how they launched BF4. They can't even release patches without breaking things and when it comes time to reveal things or work with the community they are pretty insufferable or just lie completely. Just complete incompetence at every level, from management to game development to PR. DICE LA seems to do pretty well (at least they did with BF4) but that's a small team and I'm sure what exactly they work on.

I mean one of their lead devs has been picking fights with people on twitter for like a year, just incredible. I feel bad for the community managers on reddit but then I also don't because they're pretty tone-deaf and promise things like the community games only to have it turn out that DICE completely punted on the concept so that they could try to milk microtransactions.

Battlefield V could have been so awesome if they didn't just try to chase trends like insane cosmetics or Battle Royale. The Pacific update was great. They've lacked iconic maps and guns and that's not even the biggest issue with the game. They didn't even try in their biggest mode carried over from BF1 (Operations) - they just punted on it completely. Just so many mistakes made it makes me sad. Star Wars Battlefront 2 had a lot of similar issues but they turned it around simply by doing what the community asked for. DICE has done the opposite for this game.

I don't really know why I still play it so much, I do enjoy the gunplay (pre-5.2) and the Pacific maps are fun. There's a good nucleus in there. But it's too late to do anything about it. It's probably the last AAA WW2 game we get for a while, and that bums me out.

                Re: Battlefield V

I share a lot of what's being said here.

From a personal stand point, I was always a BF over CoD guy. Stood by my game and series for a long time, even if I dabbled with CoD. But even that was a long time ago, and CoD would never have been my main play over BF.

Long story short, I've been playing and have loved (much like the rest of you guys) the BF series for a long, long time. And continued playing, even as it went down hill. Always stayed away from CoD because it was too arcadey.

Fast forward to BF V and current times....I've completely ditched BF months ago. And not only have I not looked back, I've also been enjoying the hell out of CoD. I'm one player in the scheme of things, but it still shows things have been changing, and not for the better.

In the end, all of that just to say that it's a damn shame what has happened to this game. And never in a million years would I have thought I'd have completely given up on this game, AND been ok with it.

This might be the only occurrence out of the titles that I've played in the past where I've seen, honestly, 98% of the community so united on a set of particular issues. I haven't touched BF5 in over a week and I feel fine about it. I'm waiting for MW in the mail from Amazon, and I'm hoping being able to play with my buddies again will make it a more enjoyable experience than the beta was.

I just want to love BF5 so bad. I have such a soft spot for WWII-era/style games, as I'm a big buff of the historical period. I want nothing more than to grind on this game, but much like Gerg04 said above me, I'm ok with not playing this for the SECOND time in the last year. It really is hard to mess up this bad, from a dev team perspective, but DICE makes it look easy.

Same boat I am in. I came back to it not long before Pacific released and tried to play after the patch and it just wasn't fun. This game has been handled so terribly I wonder if it is intentional.

I agree with most of your points here, guys. I'm enjoying CoD so much more atm but I am kinda sad that it turned out that way to be honest because I was (and still is probably) a BF fan since BF3 came out. I really hope they'll step up though in the future so I can go back and enjoy some BF gameplay.

Patch notes are out, but there are no damage/value charts for weapons yet.

It's basically a revert to pre 5.2 patch damage values with a few tweaks. The easy thing for them to do would have been a complete revert and admit they ****ed up and lied to everyone, but they are sugar coating it. The patch notes are basically the announcement from the other day and include no damage value charts.. kind of a waste of time really.

Some of the verbiage in this thing is laughable like "Assault Rifles and LMGs will hit harder at range than SMGs with the equivalent rate of fire." Okay that's how it's supposed to work so thanks.

I'm trying to be positive. 6.2 releases Thursday March 5th.

                          Full details:

Complete disappointment from the very beginning and I've still somehow managed about 500 hours of MP.

I don't know what happened to this studio in Sweden. This game is really going to die with all kinds of potential and disappointment.
