Started playing a bit on the PS4. Mainly doing Breakthrough and Grand Operations. It's alright? Fun enough for a cheap time waster, but there doesn't feel like there is much there outside of either purchasing fun bucks or unlocking uniform combinations.

Re: Battlefield V
This game just isn't designed for that IMO. With the player models/visibility in this game and the tendency for people to just lay prone as it is, it would be a nightmare.
It's all ready prone-field/sniper-field V on a lot of maps. People can deploy a bipod while laying on their back in a pile of debris lmao.
Example of how people play this game.. just lay down.

I don't even think it's all that bullet spongy. Suomi, ZK, Tommy, STG, Lewis, MG42, Sturmgewehr 1-5, and a host of semi-autos all melt in this game. ZH, Selb are two shot from any range for scout and the boys AT is a one shot kill at most ranges. Some guns do take a lot to kill and it sucks, but generally speaking it's not a very bullet spongy game to me.Last edited by AUChase; 07-14-2019, 10:38 PM.Comment

Re: Battlefield V
Compared to games like Rising Storm 2 it is still pretty bullet sponge which is why I want hardcore. I've generally always played hardcore servers in BF games and have always preferred them over the vanilla experience. Yes, it can be annoying with how so many people spend all match prone with rifles that one hit kill, but the pros of the mode outweigh the cons like that for me. Give me Bad Company 2's hardcore mode in this game and I'll be happy. 1 shot head shots from any range, 1-2 shots for basically every gun to the chest. It was heaven.“No one is more hated than he who speaks the truth.”

Re: Battlefield V
I know the TTK in this game is lower than past BF's, but this is what I am comparing it to.

I always felt the hardcore modes where the TTK was just like that were so intense and slower paced. I remember running with the G3 in Bad Company 2 hardcore servers and I would suppress it. That gun was an animal in those modes if you knew how to handle it's recoil. Easy iron sights to use, 1-2 taps on someone to kill them and their squad didn't even hear the shot.“No one is more hated than he who speaks the truth.”

And after playing a ton of the more realistic shooters: Rising Storm, Insurgency, Post Scriptum, Hell Let Loose - it drives it home even more for me.
I love the BF series, but it's gotten too arcady. If I want the bullet sponge I'll play Halo. Can't enjoy BF anymore the way it is and it's just a damn shame.
All of that said, I could definitely see myself getting back into V if they released private servers and/or HC.

Re: Battlefield V
I don't mind a little bit of sponginess, but I get the point y'all are making.
The game just isn't very polished like you would expect from AAA developers who have been doing this for a long time. The damage totals aren't accurate at all. You can get 150 hit on someone and they won't even die sometimes.
You could do 85 damage on someone and when a teammate kills them you don't get an assist counts as kill, but shooting someone for 25 damage might get the assist counts as kill.
I changed my color indicator for headshots and sometimes the game registers 2-3 headshots and the person still doesn't die. Here's an ex of someone knifing me and killing me despite getting shot:
Dice says it's all a visual issue, but I'm not so sure.

I'm down to about 2 days a week now instead of the 5 I used to play it. It's fun with people sometimes, but solo would be awful.Last edited by AUChase; 07-17-2019, 08:53 AM.Comment

Re: Battlefield V
I guess in reality it's unfair to compare BF to the other more "realistic" games on a 1:1 scale, they're not meant to be the same game. But it does illustrate the change in direction.
Having played the series for so long, it's become more frustrating than it is fun to play for me. And that really sucks because I WANT to play BF.

Re: Battlefield V
It isn't fair to compare them completely because they have different visions, but I the fact that hardcore servers have been a huge part of the series forever and we still don't have them is a shame and something to legitimately complain about. I know plenty of people will never enjoy hardcore and cannot enjoy a low TTK. There's a reason the vanilla gameplay is as popular as it is. However, DICE is really dropping the ball right now with the lack of custom servers/hardcore. I don't know if it is an EA thing, but their games have seemingly felt more and more rushed and consequently less and less polished each release. This game felt like a beta when it first released. It was fun, but it was not in a state of polish that a game would have been in 10 years ago at release. That's sort of just the state of video games anymore as a whole, but I've been pretty disappointed with DICE and the series over the years because it does feel like they continuously are doing what they can to separate the games from the first few that really took the series off.“No one is more hated than he who speaks the truth.”

Re: Battlefield V
Enjoying the game more that I've unlocked all weapons and know what works well for me. Still irritated at the netcode/tick rate when it seems like I get one shot by guns at times or I'm all the way behind a building/wall and then die. Still having fun scout sniping.Comment

Not awful at all in fact if the game had better maps it would be my second fav BF next to BF3SLIDERS SUCKComment
