The Alters - Official Trailer | PC Gaming Show: Most Wanted</b>

Get a fresh look at The Alters in this latest trailer for the upcoming sci-fi survival adventure game from the creators of This War of Mine. The Alters will be available on PC and consoles in 2025, including PC Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass. A demo for The Alters is out now on Xbox Series X|S, PS5 (PlayStation 5), and PC.

After crash-landing on a hostile planet under a blazing sun, Jan must survive in a high-tech mobile base designed for a crew he doesn’t have. His luck changes when he discovers Rapidium, a resource that, when paired with the Quantum Computer, lets him create Alters—alternate versions of himself based on changing the pivotal decisions from his past.

The Alters aren’t just workers—they’re individuals with their own skills, emotions, and motivations. While essential for keeping the base functional, crafting tools, and mining resources, their distinct personalities can spark tension. Despite their differences, they share a common goal: survive, escape, and rely only on themselves.

I hope this one gets enough attention that it is worth its own thread. But for now

            Clair Obscur Expedition 33
            Release Date - 4/24/2025
            Price - $49.99 & on Gamepass

There are a few reasons why this game really excites me.

Turn based RPG's will always have a place for me, and this game looks like what I wish Final Fantasy XVI's combat was like. It's exciting to hear the developers talk about the game and what inspires them. It really looks like an evolution of games from the JRPG genre that made it popular in the first place, rather than the complete divergence that we have seen in other games.

Also, the game is being priced under the industry norm. Per the developers "We are a small team with an Indie spirit, and we're creating something we believe is truly special. We aren't a AAA studio, this is our first game, and we want as many people discovering our world as possible"

Despite what the price may you have you believe, the art does not look like it's from an indie game, and they do promise 30+ hours of main story content with plenty more for completionist.

Lot's to like with what they say, and the trailers/gameplay videos look great. All that's left is to stick the landing.

Sadly, all of the collectors editions are already sold out.

                  Re: Upcoming Games

This is what kind of stinks about the current state of gaming.

You have these independent studios who kick out a great game or even a few but they can have such tight margins (or the owners of small company aren't satisfied with returns they are getting and want a big payday while they can get it ) so they have to sell to what ends up being a giant company like Warner Brothers. Small company loses some people as big company makes cuts.

Then small company who is now part of a bigger company can't really make the kind of games they want or would have made beyond the fact that they've now lost some of the people who made the small company so good. So at this point the small company isn't really the same one that was bought.

Which is likely because big company takes way to much creative control of small company and forces them to make certain types of games that maybe aren't in their wheelhouse or they no longer have the key talent who can make said games better.

Small company (which is really now just the big company) not being anything close to what it was can't do what it was bought to do.

Few years later, games cancelled or crappy games come out. Studio either has huge cuts or is shuttered all together.

Rinse/ Repeat with a different small company. You have a company like Bioware who is hanging on but how many studios who released some huge games are no longer around.

One or two things have to happened or the next few generations are going to be in big trouble.

                    1. make shorter / smaller games (less $ to make)

                    2. raise the prices of games by more then a few bucks

Wasn't there reports that other Publishers want Rockstar to raise the price of price of GTA 6, so it could justify them raising prices too. I'm more than certain that GTA 6 could release at $80-100 and still sell ridiculous copies. All it would take is them doing it and others will follow

I actually wouldn’t mind shorter games. Some of these 50+ hour single player games are bloated. I enjoyed Rise of the Ronin. But, that wasn't a game that needed to be 50+ hours

Yea the rumored price for gta 6 is $100. 50 hours is about the standard now and that’s just too long for most games. I know like with the Witcher 3 one of the most beloved games in the last decade the % of people that finished it was smaller then you would think

                          Re: Upcoming Games

Not okay at all with a $100 standard price tag on GTA 6, or any price hike considering the industry levied one on us just a few years ago. Such a hike should be summarily rejected by consumers unless the industry also adjusts the price down for games with less development time and content. That's the perfect world though. We're not going to see non-indie games with an 8 hour campaign adjusted down to a $30 price tag, and there is even less chance that a spike in price would negatively impact Rockstar's sales on this.

I agree that smaller games in general aren't a bad thing. I love big expansive worlds, but many of them feel empty or unnecessarily bloated. There are probably a few games that could have benefited from a more narrow focus.

Another option is that the United States needs to start enforcing antitrust laws more in the video game industry. While I loathe the very idea of any kind of government overreach, we are losing too many great game studios to greed.

For me, GTA 6 is already projecting Billions in revenue and it WILL be a console seller. Only incentive for Rockstar to raise the price is greed. I get that cost of development has skyrocketed. But, something has to give. We've already seen a heavy microtransaction push in games. I wouldn't want to see a heavy MTX pus and a price increase as well.
