I don't think Nintendo should lose their reputation as a family oriented console. Just to sale more violence based games. Bottom line, this next console will make or break them. But I for one am staying loyal to Nintendo.

They need to get with the times. In order to successfully build and keep a dedicated fan base, you need to mature at the same rate your fan base does. I grew out of Mario with Mario 64. I stopped paying attention to Zelda when that Captain N show was cancelled. I dont care about Mega Man and Dr. Wily anymore. And why is'nt Yoshi extinct yet?

I know some ppl may still care about these games but at some point its time to move on and let these characters die. Make new Characters. Hell, I hear that Viewtefull Joe guy is new school. I loved the Power Rangers but I eventually grew out of them and moved on. I think its time for Nintendo to do the same.

I can see your point, but there's still a VERY VERY loyal list fanbase out there who still crave Mario, Zelda, Metroid, and Donkey Kong. I grew up with these games and I think it's awesome playing them still today. Nintendo can still make great games, but this whole "kiddy" thing is so exagerated. Just cause the system has Pokemon and stuff like that doesn't mean it's a kiddy console.

Nintendo will never surrender!!!! Well unless EA buys them out. hehehehehe.....

But that's never gonna happen unless the company totally crashes. Which will most likely never happen.

I remember reading an interview at IGN where execs said new mascots would be appearing? Where are they?

Nintendo keeps on cramming Mario and his buddies everywhere.

Mario will be in NBA Street V3. Mario will be in the new Dance Dance Revolution. Nintendo announced Mario Baseball.

And of course there's a zillion Mario Party's, Mario Karts, Mario Tennis, Mario Golf, Super Smash Bros, etc....

How many games do they have that aren't kiddy games? They lean very heavily toward the kiddy side of the gaming spectrum.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

I suppose you consider games like Animal Crossing and Harvest Moon kiddy games too?

Well if you do then I guess I like to play kiddy games. These are fun and have lots of replayability. There's so much crap that came out for PS2 and XBOX in the past year or two, that are "MATURE" games and they were major failures and ripoffs.

Ripoffs? Ok, you have your opinion. i haven't played animal crossing(but I have heard that it's a great game) or harvest moon but most of the games that come out on nintendo consoles are "kiddy games". There's nothing wrong with that but it's the truth and it's one of the main reasons that they don't have as many people excited for their stuff as sony and microsoft.

I think we all know that the PS2 and XBOX are so popular because kids are peer pressured into playing them. Atleast that's a good excuse.... hehehe

Well anyways, I don't want to get an arguement going or anything, but I guess everyone has their own styles and likes/dislikes.

I dont know why I like using this flop as an example. Anyway, I think Nintendo would be more successfull if they stayed out of the console market. Its impossible to be #1, fall to #3 then hop back up into #1 again. Sega swallowed its pride and discontinued the console business. I think Nintendo should follow. If time has taught us anything, its that it is'nt enough room for 3 consoles in this world. As crazy as it sounds, its true.

If you limit the number of consoles, that means ppl can buy both and play any and all games that devs make. Instead of having a rouge 3rd system that only complicates things.
