I'd have to go

1. The Witcher 3 (G.O.A.T.)
2. Red Dead Redemption 2
3. Fallout 4
4. Horizon: Zero Dawn

3 and 4 are pretty much interchangeable for me. Only reason I put Fallout at #3 is because of how many really fun hours I've sunk into the game. As far as stories go, nothing beats Horizon, in my opinion. I was completely invested in it and found myself digging into the lore in the wiki pages.

Not sure if I could order a top 5 other than number 1, which is definitely TLoU Part 2. The other 4 for me would probably be Horizon Zero Dawn, God of War, Spider-Man….and my last choice might be a cheating pick? You can technically throw it in with the PS4/Xbox One gen because it did come out on the Switch first, even though I never played it until it released on PS5. But…Hades! If it’s not a cheat to have Hades on my list even though I didn’t play it until it hit PS5, that’s my number 2 for sure lol. Such an amazing game

It's very hard to rank games. Your mention of Hades reminded me of Transistor, which totally slipped my mind. That's one of my favorite games ever.

Spent hundreds of hours in farm sim and wildlands. No man’s sky is always getting cool updates. Witcher 3 is the best rpg and 2k22’s depth is amazing. Honorable mention goes to red dead 2.

Going based on the current XSX/PS5 generation, my top 5 thus far would be -

1. Halo Infinite (campaign)
2. Marvel's Spider Man: Miles Morales
3. Immortals Fenyx Rising
4. Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart
5. Outriders

Haven't played Cyberpunk 2077 yet as im waiting for the current generation upgrade so once that happens and I play it, im expecting it to at the very least replace Outriders in my top 5.

I have given this a ton of thought. Which games did I truly just love. Some games (I am talking to you Spiderman, Life is Strange, and I am still working on The Witcher III if you can believe it) I still have not played yet. So I look forward to them before year end and this list can change.

1. MLB The Show 20 - simply put, it is without a doubt my all time favorite sports game of all time. I can’t stop playing.

2. Red Dead Redemption II - I literally lived in this world for 3 straight solid months. Going on hunting trips in this universe was simply amazing. I was truly living in the Wild Wild West and living out my Clint Eastwood flicks dreams. I enjoyed it even more than the original on PS3. I will go back and give this a second play-through one day.

3. Horizon Zero Dawn - a gorgeous game. The hero was well developed, I loved the combat and the DLC was top notch too. A really awesome story.

4. Shadows of Mordor - I had so much fun playing this game. I am a Lord of the Rings junkie. The nemesis system was so good. The best hack and slash game I have ever played. Killing Orcs was never so satisfying!!

5. Detroit Become Human/Until Dawn - these two games were amazing. Both had fantastic pacing, great stories, I loved both of them and will play them again no doubt. Superb interactive “multiple choice” games.

6. Days Gone - Easily the best Zombie game I have ever played. Great story, awesome open world fun. It was an obsession for 65-70 glorious hours. I can’t wait for a potential sequel on the PS5!

Honorable Mentions:

Alien Isolation - the best “Alien” game ever made. It truly captured Ridley Scotts original masterpiece. A sci fi horror tour de force this game was. And the difficulty was unforgiving. I played on “easy” and was challenged. A great game of you love the movies (especially the original).

* Note: * Clocking in at slightly over 117 hours (probably) after final boss fight, Code Vein instantly becomes my longest played game ever, edging even HZD's 113 hours, and I literally lived in that world. Sure, I spent a lot of time here just running around, leveling up, messing with everything the game has to offer or simply just changing clothes from time to time, but still, I was genuinely shocked.

I have never wanted to finish a game this bad, and I am incredibly proud I did. The soulslike guys are right: the sense of accomplishment when you finish one of these is just immense.

The game's of course absolutely amazing by itself. The setting, story, gameplay, graphics, music, sheer variety of options of how to play... It is a shame it does not have it's own thread around here.

Just an absolute masterpiece.
