They do say that your first souls-like game is the hardest. If you can go for any of the other ones, you'll probably have an easier time even if they don't all play the same. Nioh was my first game of this genre and is still the hardest one I've played as of now.

This has been mentioned a few times already but due to the fact that it's Switch-exclusive I understand it probably was under-played by most of the PS/XBox centric crowd (of which I'm a part of), but "Breath of the Wild" is simply an amazing game.
I have forgotten over the years how tremendous Nintendo is at making games and was reminded of this after picking this one up (5 years or whatever after release).Comment

Honestly at this point GT7 + Elden Ring + MLB 22 = the PS5 gen can actually start. Things feel really good right now. GTA V about to drop with next gen upgrades, might make for a decent 4-seed of this group for me if the enhancements are any good.
Also a small honorable mention to The Riftbreaker. If anyone’s looking for a little hidden gem have a look. Nice game.Just one man’s opinion.

I don't know how to put Nintendo and not because they are underpowered but because of there release timing now. I mean switch came out 4 years after ps4 and xbox one and 3 years before ps5 and xbox sx.
Games that are on ps5 and ps4 I would say would go with this because now real this gen would be ps5 has ps4 is last gen and next gen is ps6 now even though a lot of people are still calling ps5 next gen.
If we are talking about ps4/xbox one and switch I would go like this.
1. Zelda BOTW
2 Batman arkham knight
3. Horizon FW
4. Horizon zero dawn
5. Ghost of tushima
6. Spiderman
7. Spiderman miles moales

1. Days Gone- Such an under appreciated game because of the poor initial reviews. That game kept me sane during the 2020 shutdown, ironically enough.
2. The Last of Us 2 (held off for whatever reason but was blown away by it's brilliance)
3. Resident Evil 2 (So good I played through twice, which I never do)
4. Far Cry 5 & New Dawn. Man were these two fun!
5. Uncharted 4- Uncharted could possibly be the greatest franchise, imo

Don't have the time to game like I used to.
RDR 2 did everything better than its predecessor. The story went off the rails a little too early for my taste, but it is easily 1 of the 5 best games I have ever played.
MLBtS is the greatest sports franchise of all-time, IMO. Masterful gameplay. Just wish they did a better job capturing the history of the sport, and giving the user a better experience as far as actually managing an MLB franchise. But gameplay is second to none, as far as sports titles.
Hope to find the time to dive into Ghosts of Tushima.

Witcher 3 took me three fits and quits, three buys, and only after a long talk with a buddy and a commitment on the fourth attempt did I finish it. You have to give it 10 hours. It's hard, it's weird, combat sucks initially, but if you give it the chance it's the GOAT!
Three fails and now on my fourth full playthrough in two and a half years. Nothing else compares...will have to think about this list.
With that said, I desperately want to find time to borrow a friend's Switch to play the Zelda games. Haven't played one since Wind Waker and I know I'm sorely missing out.Last edited by R1zzo23; 05-10-2022, 09:33 AM.Comment

Reading through this thread and saw this post and had to comment. I've tried Witcher 3 twice so far. First time I was pretty "meh" about it. My second try I was really into it once I hit the 15 hour mark but then my 2nd child was born and haven't been back since. I know the 3rd time will be the charm haha.
With that said, I desperately want to find time to borrow a friend's Switch to play the Zelda games. Haven't played one since Wind Waker and I know I'm sorely missing out.
Now, may I give it another run and fall in love ala Witcher? Probably not. Horizon, and hopefully Elden Ring, will scratch the open world itch in the coming months until the Witcher 3 upgrade. Good luck, man! I picked up a Switch for my daughter (and me, LOL) at Christmas and tried Breath of the Wild...oh lord was it BORING! Granted, I'm not a Zelda nut, having only ever beat Link to the Past on SNES, but I felt the world was just too big and open. The narrative, such as it is, was non-existent really, and story is a huge factor for me. The "go anywhere and climb everything" gameplay is a draw for those that like it, but I need more.
Now, may I give it another run and fall in love ala Witcher? Probably not. Horizon, and hopefully Elden Ring, will scratch the open world itch in the coming months until the Witcher 3 upgrade.
