      Man I can't wait for the 24th

I was expecting 179.00 but the batt-pack, adaptor, headphones, memory, and soft-case are things I prolly would have gotten anyway...for an extra 100 bucks, easy.

I don't think this is a good bargain for everybody...I wouldn't buy this just to have a hand-held...but I work @ an insurance co. call center - 3rd shift, and when its slow, these nights are LOOOOOOOONG. I gotta have one of these. There are about 5 of us that are getting them here for the wireless head to head action...plus it acts as a portable dvd player (of sorts) and plays MP3's? Gimme that.

Plus files can be D/L'd to the memory card...how long before someone figures out how to configure movie files for the mem sticks?

betamax, from Sony, was the video tape format that launched the market for consumer home video tape recorders and video camcorders. i was just barely old enough to remember it (i taped saturday morning cartoons on nbc.)

VHS took over obviously and Sony eventually conceded defeat.

betacam is the professional format that came out in the 80's. it's still used today in some film/video production houses and some tv stations.

by the way, i'll probably wait awhile before investing in a PSP, though i wasn't even considering it until i saw screenshots of MLB.

Depends. I hear there is a pretty good amount of support for HD-DVD as well. Isn't Microsoft going that route? I just have a feeling Sony's gonna lose this one, but it's only going off of past history.

MS(at least according to IGN) is sticking to normal DVD format for Xenon. PS3 is the only next gen system that will use next gen media format(as of now).

Re: US PSP Dated And Priced

as long as we're on a tangent about Blu-Ray and HD-DVD... both camps have their share of supporters. here are the bigger ones-

Blu-Ray: EA, Vivendi Universal Games, Sun Microsystems, TI, Hewlett-Packard, Dell...
                          HD-DVD: Toshiba, Sanyo, NEC...

so far it looks like blu-ray has a slight edge on the gaming market, BUT the movie industry will be a factor too as far as home entertainment-

                          Blu-Ray: Sony, MGM, and Disney...
HD-DVD: Warner, Universal Studios, Paramount, HBO, and New Line...

and to add to the mix, other companies, namely Thomson, will support both.

will either format out-betamax betamax??? we'll just have to wait and see...

That's funny. Everywhere to this point I've read has said that XBOX2 will be HD-DVD.

Here's an estimate of the specs..
