Oh my that is terrible!!!! That is simply inexcusable that they abandoned a critical game breaking issue on the 360. Getting away with that is criminal and consumer fraud in my book.

Installed to an HDD mitigated the issue a bit, but it would still happen and you couldn't pinpoint when; sometimes it'd be at the start of a game and others, in the final 2 minutes.

I need to scope out a PS3 copy like you, Armor.

Finally beat the first Donkey Kong Country with a friend from work tonight. Now I'm trying to convince her to play DKC2 so we can beat that, lol.

          Finished since my last post

The Outer Worlds, Rise of the Tomb Raider

TOW - simply amazing, GOTY so far by a wide margin. I wish I could do another playthrough with a differently molded character, something along the lines of a male brute, but my backlog is scary and just keeps growing. But man do I miss Parvati, ADA and The Unreliable.

Lara Croft 2 - very solid game, just like the first one. I think I enjoyed the combat part more in 1 but the story might have been slightly better in 2. The final battle, once you enter the Lost City of Kitezh, was epic. Probably the best final battle in all of the games I played so far (except for TLoU, of course). The Baba Yaga storyline was pretty fun as well. (Especially for us, Eastern Europeans, lol.) Amazing, breathtaking graphics (I am very high on that). Lara herself is a very lovable character which doesn't hurt, too. Jacob was great as well. Also went through the DLC (or whatever it was) where Lara has to find the proof that she has legal rights to Croft Manor. Nice little change of pace story. Very touching, too.

In and out - sports games to keep me fresh

NHL 21 - Vegas Golden Knights franchise, Season 1, 30 games in, did not play in more than a month

Madden 21 (old gen) - Mexico City Golden Eagles (formerly of Arizona Cardinals, but with a heavily modified roster) franchise. Simmed the relocation season, made it to the Divisional round in Year 2 with 9-7 record (after 7-2 start) and NFC West title. Currently in Year 3, Preseason week 4. Still got JJ Watt, Chandler Jones, Hopkins, Simmons and Budda Baker on the roster but also guys like Wyatt Teller, Matt Breida, Chidobe Awuzie and Chase McLaughlin. And a new (drafted) QB, since I can't stand Kyler Murray. Doing exclusively Play the Moments except when I get to Super Bowl.

World Snooker Championship 19 - not much progress since the start of the year but it's good to have when you get the itch.

          Just started

          Far Cry 4

My first Far Cry game, even my first Ubisoft game, ever. I kind of expect the learning curve to be pretty steep but man I fell for the game so suddenly (just like with The Outer Worlds two months ago) that I just could not resist any longer.

I originally only owned FC5 (and had it pegged as my next open world adventure after I finish Lara) and recently caved in and got FC New Dawn during a weekend sale, but then I watched couple of videos from this game on YT and completely changed my mind. The game looks amazing, the setting (Kyrat) looks amazing, and despite my previous views, I am even starting to enjoy Pagan Min a lot, too. Seems he would be equally as hilarious as he'd be disgusting. Should be a lot of fun.

The only thing I am concerned about is that at some point certain aspects of the game become a bit too repetitive but I guess that's the Achilles heel of most open world games so hopefully I'll deal with it when that moment comes.

          Backlog

Even more endless than before. Talk about the theory of relativity, lol.

            Re: 2021 Gaming Plans

I never had a backlog last gen. I only had a PS4 and I’d usually play one narrative driven game at a time, mixed with some sports games that I’d play daily as well.

Well then I got a Series X and PS5, and I’m so overwhelmed with games to play lol. I’ve started so many games that I haven’t gone back to and not even because I didn’t enjoy them, I’ve just had way too much to play. I’m pretty confident that some of these games, I’ll never go back to and that’s a shame. I do work 6 days/week though so time is tight haha.

            Right now, I’m playing…

            Deathloop
            Returnal (trying for the Platinum)
            Rachet and Clank Rift Apart
            Hades
RE Village (doing a Village of Shadows run, very challenging but fun)
            NBA 2K22
            MLB The Show 21

I have Kena preordered and ready to download, and I also can’t wait to dive back into Death Stranding next weekend. I’m going to REALLY try to not buy anymore games for a long time lol.

LOL I never had Xbox before to go along with my PS but might not be able to avoid it this cycle because if nothing else I want to play Outer Worlds 2 one day. No way I am going to miss out on that.

But there are also other Xbox exclusives I am dying to see - and eventually, play, if they match the hype: Avowed, perhaps Redfall and State of Decay 3... and especially, if it ever comes out in the first place, Everwild.

Can't imagine my backlog once that happens.

Lol, yea I didn’t even list any Xbox games in my post above. Between the handful of Xbox games I bought and then Game Pass, I think I have 46 games downloaded on my Series X lol (I do have the ssd expansion card). Too many games!

Oh crap I’m also playing through The Medium on PS5 lol. Had a good time with it on Series X when it first released and have been wanting to do another play through. Grabbed it for PS5 because I’m addicted to trophies lol

Hey! I'm mostly playing retro games this year) Such nostalgia for Kingdom Hearts, Star Wars - Battlefront II, Devil May Cry, and other games. When I was a kid I used to play GTA III with a friend. I don't know how, but recently he found my social media and texted me! It was like I was back in my childhood! We decided to get together and play again. I even found GTA III and other games here! https://romsopedia.com/roms/playstation-2 So happy about it

                      Update here:

                      Currently Playing on my PS5:

                      MLB The Show 20
                      Madden 21 (soon 22) PS5
                      NHL 21
                      Dragons Dogma
                      Mass Effect Legacy Edition

                      In the PS5 Que:
                      Spiderman
                      Outer Worlds

                      PS3 Currently Playing:

NCAA Basketball 10 - I finally picked this game up on EBAY at a bargain (under $40 bucks which is a bargain these days). I watched a ton of youtube videos on this and love what I saw and I simply moved on from NCAA 2K7. I just do not enjoy the gameplay anymore. It has not aged well. And it was time to retire her (Will never sell it though lol). This EA game is damn good. Presentation is off the hook good. And Dynasty Mode is solid enough. I don’t know how I overlooked this one.

NBA2K11 - A timeless Classic that I still enjoy to this day.
Fight Night 4 - I hope and pray this new Boxing Game coming soon is the real deal. In the meantime we play historical matchups all the time on FN4 which is still holding up for some fun.

                      Purchased:
                      Madden 22 PS5
I'm still playing MLB the Show 19 and find it to be the best baseball sim I have ever played. This coming from someone who played Semi-pro ball. Never played Show 20 or 21. I fire it up whenever baseball season starts up. I'm in my 2021 season. Sadly, no PS5s available where I live. Maybe by X-mas.

If you aren’t aware (I’m sure you are and I don’t mean to offend you) MLB the Show is also now on Xbox, and Game Pass to boot. Just in case you didn’t know you can play the Show in places other than PlayStation now. I have it for both PS5 and Series X and I actually prefer it on Xbox. But obviously, to each their own.

If you do get a PS5 and want to stick with an older version, I highly recommend ‘20. It runs amazing on PS5, compared even to how it ran on PS4 Pro.

                          Re: 2021 Gaming Plans

Hey y’all. I am a bit late to the party, but I wanted to share, so here goes.

At the tail end of last year I was a day one purchaser of a Xbox Series X and I’ve got to be honest, at first I loved the console. I played tons of games on it, games on gamepass, games from my ever expanding backlog, and even bought some new games. I ended up getting my wife an xbox series S, and all seemed well.

However, as time went on, I reached a point where I basically realized that I grew up playing Sony’s games and I want to continue to experience those types of games. Plus xbox didn’t have anything keeping me around - I liked Gears & Halo, but I only liked Halo a little bit, and Gears isn’t enough.

So I traded my Series X for a PS5. A guy I know had an extra. This worked perfectly because now I have both next gen consoles, as we still have my wife’s series s.

That being said, I still have a *huge* backlog and plenty of games to play. Here’s a short round up of what I’m playing now, some recent games I’ve played, and future games I want to play.

Right. I'm optimistic that I'll have a PS5 sometime in 2022. By then I'm sure I'll take a hard look at the next gen version of MLB the Show as I think they have taken the PS4 version as far as it can go.
