    Rome Total War....like computer "crack"

I picked up Rome Total War this weekend for the PC.

If you haven't bought this game...don't.

For if you do.......you will not see daylight, friends, family, perhaps even food or a shower for at least a 48-72 hour period.

This game is absolutely amazing. For any other military history buffs out there like myself...we've come along way from Centurion: Defender of Rome (great game from the early 90s).

There are few comparisons in the gaming world to the feeling of watching your 3000 Roman Legionnaires storm the walls of Carthage as flaming arrows, ballista, and catapults hurl death on the enemy. Graphically..absolutely incredible.

Easily the best game I've played this year, PC, XBox, etc.

I was thinking of either picking this up or waiting for Ages of the Empire III. Its a tough choice.
Just wait till Arsenal moves into Emirates Stadium.

How does this game compare to age of empires 2? I used to play that game for hours on end.

It is an awesome game, especially with the new patch fixing the old "suicidal generals" issue (the computer would think your generals, the guys who u need to lead your armies or u lose the game, are heavy cavalry, thus they order a heavy cavalry charge into the heart of your lines to break you, ,usually resulting in their death, and their army fleeing giving you an easy win on the hardest difficulty). If my computer were better I would probably like it even more, because my battles can't go much beyond the 3000 mark. Seige battles are really intense, and I reccomend you play as many as you can, as they are extremely challenging and fun.

I like it much better than Age of Empires.

If you have a top notch computer you can have battles with up to 10 THOUSAND troops on screen at the same time fighting (each extremely detailed and very life like in their fighting). It is an awe inspiring scene and will instantly make a grown man act like a 12 year old yelling, "COOL!"

The campaign mode is very in depth as well so you can have fun with both. But the battle engine must be seen to be believed. Awesome.

                    Hey Auburn,

Glad to see a fellow wargamer on this site. Are you going to get Cossacks 2? It supposed to sport 64,000 soldiers on the battlefield at one time. It should be pretty good. It comes out in April, so maybe you'll be tired of Rome by then to give it a try.

Do you have to pay to play that game online?
