Glad to see a fellow wargamer on this site. Are you going to get Cossacks 2? It supposed to sport 64,000 soldiers on the battlefield at one time. It should be pretty good. It comes out in April, so maybe you'll be tired of Rome by then to give it a try.PSN: JISTIC_OS

Re: Rome Total War....like computer "crack"
I don't know about getting Cossacks. Probably will.
I am DYING for Total War to come out with a Napoleonic version. After seeing what they are capable of with the Medieval and Roman periods...I'm drooling at the thought of seeing a regiment of Old Guard marching up a ridge to meet the British Light Division.AUBURN TIGERS

Re: Rome Total War....like computer "crack"
Still playing it AND Medieval Total War,RTW's parent game. There is also an expansion pack for RTW called Barbarian invasion. It is ruthless. The Barbarians redifine the word Medieval. If anyone that's thinking about snagging up RTW and your'e on a budget:get Medieval Total War that includes Viking invasion. A must own and I've seen it at Target for 20 bucks. Also,it is a little more friendly to a computer that is chugging a little on RTW. It does like eating RAM-but it is worth it.ByurrulzIdon'tfollowComment

Re: Rome Total War....like computer "crack"
I love this game. I don't play it as much as AA did, but it is a lot of fun and sometimes I play when I have some spare time. It's a little too easy when you're playing as the Roman legionaries, but that is probably realistic. When you play with some of the smaller factions it is very challenging.Comment

If you haven't bought this game...don't.
For if you do.......you will not see daylight, friends, family, perhaps even food or a shower for at least a 48-72 hour period.
This game is absolutely amazing. For any other military history buffs out there like myself...we've come along way from Centurion: Defender of Rome (great game from the early 90s).
There are few comparisons in the gaming world to the feeling of watching your 3000 Roman Legionnaires storm the walls of Carthage as flaming arrows, ballista, and catapults hurl death on the enemy. Graphically..absolutely incredible.
Easily the best game I've played this year, PC, XBox, etc.- The true measure of a man is how he treats someone who can do him absolutely no good.Comment

How does the computer play on the strategic map? I downloaded the demo and the AI seems to fight pretty well on the Battle map. Does the computer try to logically attack you on the strategic map? Is the game a challenge on the hardest levels. So far I really like the demo.Chalepa Ta Kala.....Comment

The rometotalrealism.org downloads have balanced it out alot. Not only adding new units but adding such things as having to build up conquered lands before you can even start producing troops. No longer do you invade your neighboring country and after you slaughter the guys wife and kids he fights for you the next spring. It slows down expansion which makes the game longer/better. They also did land bridges between many of the islands/land masses and between the larger land masses. This helps the computer AI because sea invasions rarely, if ever, happen. I've been playing one campaign since early October and the showdown with Macedon for the top spot is about to happen. We each have 42 provinces and our borders are starting to merge. I'm trying to bring my armies west as fast as I can to prepare for the "storm." Geez...I gotta go play now. lol- The true measure of a man is how he treats someone who can do him absolutely no good.Comment

Re: Rome Total War....like computer "crack"
Bought it a few months ago but didn't like it. Maybe I didn't play with the settings or something, but my army would storm an enemy base and kill the guys I commanded them to, but when more enemies arrived, my guys would stand there for a minute (getting slaughtered) before deciding to react.
This is similar in Age Of Empires 3 I bought 2 days ago... I know you're supposed to command everything yourself but you'd think they'd have the common sense to at least defend themselves.Comment
