taste wise its pretty good. It serves as a good base to work in other flavors with. I mix it with milk and pour it over cereal with bananas and strawberries in the morning and then drink it strait as a snack in the afternoon. Its got great reviews from everything I've heard.

I prefer the various chocolate flavors- either double chocolate or extreme milk chocolate. I prefer the former, but I'm using the latter right now because I made a mistake at the store It's growing on me.

Either way, ON is the way to go for me.

The only thing cardio accomplishes is losing weight and increasing cardiovascular stamina. You will only gain strength in your legs but you won't necessarily gain size. Look at marathon runners. Are they built like Arnold? No.

Want strength and size? Hit the weights. Leave cardio for fat burning and cardio endurance.

P.S. Not sure if this is right, but I thought cardio will eat into muscle if you're not consuming enough carbs or calories.

You're correct money. If you want to build mass, you need to eat, and hit the weights. Cardio will do basically nothing for your size. If you want mass in your legs, hit the leg press, squat station, leg extensions, etc.

          not entirely true

i mean, sure if your distance running type of cardio, your not gonna put on muscle, but if you do wind sprints and other explosion type drills, that wont hurt your muscle growth

Of course not. But the dude isn't doing windsprints. He's running 3.75 miles in 30 minutes, which means he's probably running at around 7 MPH or 8-8.5 minutes per mile. Hardly windsprints.

And even then, just doing windsprints will not make your upperbody or lower body Mr.Olympia big.
Plain and simple, you want mass and strength, hit the plates.

Cardio is for burn - Weights are for bulk

              That's 99% of it.

Always remember, muscle is the ultimate fat burner. Add lean muscle mass is the best thing you can do to lose weight (in addition to a smart diet).

Hey fellas... just checking in to see where some of you all are at with your workouts.

Myself, I've upped my workouts a notch, in preparation for the Academy July 15th.. I have decreased my body fat percentage, and added an extra 1/2" on my bi/tri's, so only a little more to go before I get to where I'd like to be. I've sorta plateau'ed at the time being, but I'm sure to get there, after bumping it up a notch.

                How is everyone else doing?

Re: For all you guys wanting to gain muscle, size, etc.

I've never posted anything about my workout at all (I haven't been dedicated to training from this time last year when I started to get burned out, good reason to why you need to mix up your workouts by the way, to probably late last month.

I'm not trying to bulk up a lot, but just trying to get stronger and more conditioned. Probably right now I'm as conditioned as I was a couple of years ago (two years without PE really takes a hit, although I didn't balloon in weight (110 Sophomore year, 115 at the end of high school) I could tell that my body was losing everything I worked hard for when I was preparing for baseball, something I never really had a chance to).

Anyways, last year I had a set schedule, but burned after four weeks because I had four workouts that were daily (push ups, sit ups, crunches, and I can't remember the 4th one). So now this go around I'm being a little more ambiguous with my workouts, focusing on certain areas and not making anything else daily except running on the treadmill.

My workouts usually go like this:

                  Stretch first
Warm up on the treadmill (light jog on 4 MPH for 1:00 if I stretched, 4:00 if I didn't (3 MPH for 2 minutes, 4 MPH for the other 2 minutes).
Treadmill run 1 (Jog for 30 seconds, Turn up the speed for 2 minutes, then cool down for 30 seconds).
Workout Set 1 (Whatever I'm doing that day, be it push ups, sit ups, bench presses, triceps, etc., I only do two to three workouts as I don't want to rest much from running)
                  Treadmill run 2
Workout Set 2 (Same workouts as in 1, less reps)
                  Treadmill run 3
                  Workout Set 3 (Less reps)
                  Cool down and stretch

Probably next week I'll throw in the jump rope.

When Day Light Savings comes up I'll throw in windsprints and other stuff I usually did over the warmer months that I can't do now because it gets dark too quickly.

For a few weeks I've worked out three times a week, but now I'm aiming to work out five-six times a week (I still keep in mind the 48 hour rule).

I know this is workout routine is different from the rest of yours, but I'm aiming more at a cross-training workout.

BTW, AuburnAlumni, is their any consequence for taking in slight more protein than you weigh? I'm only 5'6" 125 and I've been keeping track of what I've been eating recently and I've noticed with only drinking two protein shakes that my protein intake ends up being a few grams higher than my weight (grams to pounds) at times.

Nope... I end up taking in almost 100 grams over my bodyweight in protein. I weigh 186, and I'm taking in almost 300 grams of protein per day.

How much creatine should I be taking?

Ive also read that with creatine you should br drinking a lot of water. How much water should you drink with a certain amount of creatine?

Ive been searching but there is no standard answer.

Re: For all you guys wanting to gain muscle, size, etc.

Im a 6'1 155 pound junior in highschool. I play wing and am trying to put one some weight over the offseason. I'm hoping to put on about 10-15 lbs in about 8 months time. I usually have eggs for breakfast, subway/togos/fastfood for lunch and a protein shake after lifting. For dinner I try to eat something like grilled chicken, steak, or salmon. I also drink a protein shake before breakfast with 300 calories and 25g of protein and carbs. I drink a different shake after lifting with milk with 850 calories and about 50g of protein. I also usually try to eat a can of tuna or something like that as a snack(45g protein). I'll look into that chicken stuff you guys are talking about.

My workout routine for offseason basketball:
jumprope, wall touches, 2 laps around court before practice.
practice for an hour in the gym.
Conditioning- 2 warmup laps then either- timed mile(around 5:45 for me usually), sprints/pushups/stairs or running up the hill.
Lifting- 2 different sets which alternate every day. For most lifts we do a set of 12 then a set of 14-18 with as much weight as we can.
                          SET A
                          Bench Press
Set of however many pushups we can do
                          Incline Press
                          Another set of pushups
                          Upright Rows
                          50 situps with medicine ball
                          Triceps
Shoulder excercise(not sure what its called but we just lift dumbells over our head basically)
                          medicine ball passes
                          200 jump ropes

                          SET B

                          Leg Press
                          Squats
                          Bicep curls
Pullups(1 set of overhand, 1 set of underhand)
                          wall squat(3-5 min)
                          Squat jumps
                          Calf raisers
                          200 jump ropes

We lift tues-fri so I do 2 of each set per week. I drink a protein shake right after lifting too. Do you think this is enough or should i be doing extra weight work. Right now I'm basically just looking to get stronger and more solid. I'm pretty skinny but I can jump high and can dunk at 6'1" so I'm not too concerned with my explosiveness. If I should be working out more by myself what kind of exercises should I do?

I stopped drinking soda the first Sunday of the NFL season and now I'm finally able to slow down on fast food. I have ate Subway, Fazoli's (Italian fast food) but I've only ate one burger the last two weeks and only had fast food aboout 6 times in two weeks. Why that might seem a lot to everyone, it's not when you look at the fact I was eating fast food at least once a day. Crazy thing is, I don't even crave it anymore and I hate if that's what I end up having to get.

Feels good to not want it, I know that.

I was wondering if anyone had a good routine for working out arms. I do too many curls and am not getting results. I was wondering if anyone could throw out a routine for me to try with different exercises? Thanks for any results!
