Why is everyone so caught up on the age thing. Like I said, this type of stuff happens all the time where I'm from. Some of them will understand and some of them will trip but in the end, they'll more than likely get over it since they already know who I am and know that I wasn't the typical 20-something looking to bang a young chick guy. Its a common sterotype but I've worked my way past that.

I would just say something to her family, you don't want to make matters turn very badly.

As a parent, I would be kinda pissed if something like this was going on and my kid and boyfriend weren't being honest. I think situations are easier by being honest, then going out with her for a year and then they find out. They will say that Graphik was lying to them that whole time, what else has he kept from everyone.

Well, it's your call. But if I found out that my 18 year old daughter was dating and sleeping with a 27 year old that LIED about his age and started dating her when she was legally a minor, I know I'd be pissed off in a big way. I think the bigger issue you have is the lying part.
If she's so mature and wise beyond her years then why didn't she just state your age right away?
This whole lying thing makes you look untrustworthy and the first thing that would come to my mind, as a father, is that you're saying anything and everything to get in her pants.

P.S. I also think that 10 years isn't a big deal when both parties are over 20 years old. But when you're talking about highschool, jail-bait, then it's a huge difference.

Is her father bigger and meaner than you are? If you feel like this is not the right thing (wrong), you should probably go with your gut instinct and just call it quits man.

lol- my mom & step dad are 10 years apart... I find it very funny though that her mother works in the same building & doesnt know your "true" age...

Well, my company takes up 8 floors in this building. I work on 8, she works on 2. Funny though, cause my job consist of going to her floor alot but luckily for me, I dont know many of the ppl down there on her floor personally. If she really wanted to find out, she could ask around but I guess she hasn't went that far.

Why do you want to go? Its not your prom and you really wont know anybody there but your date.

Also, if she dumps you because you wont go to the prom with her....she probably isnt the one for you. As mature and intelligent as you say she is, I'm suprised she doesnt realize how embarrasing and awkward this will be for you.

I agree. I also would think twice about getting involved in any relationship where I or the girl had to lie right off the bat. Slippery slope....

You said at the beginning that she wanted you to lie about your age to preserve your relationship.

If s*** is going to hit the fan, it's going to, whether that will be sooner or later. She was the one who had the bright idea to lie about your age and it's this same young lady's bright idea to have you take her out to the prom. I think that she should be the one that tells the truth about your age while you are not there. Once they find out, she's gonna get the business as well as yourself. However, you can perhaps escape the rage that is normally associated with someone finding out such shocking news as that. They would at least have time for it to sink in so that they wouldn't hit you upside the head with a vase 2 seconds after they found out the news. Though they might do it anyway, it's less probable if you are not in their presence at the time. A numbers game, really.

If by some SLIM chance they don't trip out too much then you are a blessed individual.

But you should tell her that she should come clean about your age given that it was her idea in the first place. If not, then I think you have a legit beef vs. her because honesty (especially in this case) is the best policy. And it seems like you two have failed big time.

But as you said, they really like you, and they have scouted you, so I can't just tell you to not follow your heart, because love is love, yo. And if the love is that deep, I'd say it's worth taking the risk for.

Good post and advice. I have a 16 year old sister who's dating a 19 year old in college. Speaking for myself, I'm quite cool with it and all I can do is give her advice on how to deal with someone that age. I'm positive my parents dont know his real age. They would'nt stand for it.


The untrustworthy part is the big one cause I've built up so much trust with them now only to find out I was lying about my age. It would suck, yes but at this point I do believe that they think I'm not in this relationship to just get in some panties. The majority of her family I'm not worried about, its her parents cause that is their daughter. We've already discussed when we'll tell them and we're waiting for the right time. She says the same thing I say, everyone will probably be cool with it but her moms and pops will take some more convincing. Ultimately in the end, she's old enough to make her own decisions. They treat her like an adult already so obviously they trust her judgment.
