If this guy is right, why haven't I been signed to a Major League Baseball team yet? I know I'm getting up there in age (30) and that might throw a few teams off, but I can be dominant on the mound in MLB2K7. I'm sure there's a team out there somewhere who could use a dominant middle reliever!

To play devil's advocate for a minute, there have been studies that show those who play shooting games, particularly PC shooting games, have an uncanny accuracy with a real gun from the skills gained by playing those games.

Now that in no way connects the skill to the actual implementation in a real life setting, but I am sure some *** with an agenda will cite these studies in the next few weeks.

It doesn't matter how good you are with a gun, it is what you do with it. I could be the best sharpshooter in the world, doesn't mean I want to go kill everyone.

People who go on killing sprees are not normal people. There is something wrong with them.

I'm sure there is. I've never even held a real gun let alone shot one so I can't really comment on that from a personal level.

My opinion is there is always a way to skew stats to favor one side of an argument over another. We'll see a lot of that in the upcoming days/weeks/months as gun control is a hot political issue.

With all that said, we don't know much about this kid, but I do wonder how he was this accurate. Maybe he has a lot of experience with guns? I don't know, but from the reports, it sounds like he was a pretty decent shot.

Here's an article about the gunman from the Chicago Tribune. He was definitely troubled. He was depressed and described as a loner. Who doesn't respond to someone's greeting?

"He was very quiet, always by himself," neighbor Abdul Shash said of the gunman. Shash said the gunman spent a lot of his free time playing basketball, and wouldn't respond if someone greeted him. He described the family as quiet.

Seth Greenberg the head bball coach at VT is currently on the Jim Rome show and he is also blaming the shootings on video games.
He said if he sees one more glorified shoot em up video game he is going to get sick.

It seems to me that all these people that go on these shootings have something in common, the word "loner".

                          From that Chicago Tribune article....

The note included a rambling list of grievances, according to sources. Cho had shown recent signs of violent, aberrant behavior, according to an investigative source, including setting a fire in a dorm room and allegedly stalking some women.

A note believed to have been written by Cho was found in his dorm room that railed against “rich kids,” “debauchery” and “deceitful charlatans” on campus.
He also apparently had the words "Ismail Ax" written in red ink on one of his arms.
                          Helen: Everyone's special, Dash.
Dash: [muttering] Which is another way of saying no one is.

Or what about one more glorified movie with blatant and grotesque violence , one more book or any form of media depicting killing and violence? Why is it videogames, because of user participation, having a hand in the outcome? I dont buy it. People live vicarously through movies and print as much, if not more, than through videogames.

People may become numbed to violence through videogames, but the same can be said for other media. And regardless, because you are desensitized to violence doesn make one volient in of itself.

Yes, like I live in dorms and we have our own rooms but share kitchen and common area and bathroom so me or my roomate sometimes puts the trashcan to stop the door and we leave both of our room doors open most of the time.

people that blame ish like this on video games just pisses me off. They can see 10 times worse stuff in the movies and on tv, but they get a free pass. I just don't get it, but then again, I guess logic doesn't apply to politicians.
