Also, how much did it all cost? For a purebred, all the shots, etc.
In a park I guess it depends on what other dogs are there (and how many). We've been to some leashless parks where the dogs pretty much run wild the how time, but then we've gone to some when there aren't very many and they will play chase and frisbee with you.

Like here are some pics from a couple weeks ago at a dog park in Chattanooga. It was just us and some friends mosts of the time and the dogs did real good playing: http://www.monsterpaparazzi.com/phot...anoogadogpark/

It usually depends on how many people are there with their dogs and how they behave. I've taught my dogs to quit playing when other dogs play too aggressive, you never what will happen. So my dogs will stop and come back to me if they feel uncomfortable. I've got a decent size yard, so a lot of times, we just invite dogs to our house and let them go crazy, like this day: http://monsterpaparazzi.com/photos/halloween/

My older dog doesn't bark at parks and stuff. She just likes to play or hang out close to you. The pup does bark, it's funny sometimes, sometimes it isn't. He does it when another dog has a toy he wants. He learned it at home when he wants the toy my older dog has. We're trying to break him of it. We correct him and he stops for a little bit. He's just a pup though, he'll learn. They both bark at home when the UPS man comes or something like that, but we tell them to be quiet and they tone it down to little grumbles. I don't consider their barking a problem, just normal. They aren't the crazy barking dogs that drive people crazy, like they don't bark for no reason. Just when someone is coming up the sidewalk or something, but you can teach them not to do it.

As for grooming, you don't groom Bostons at all. Their hair stays short. I don't think they shedding is bad at all. I haven't noticed shedding from the puppy yet, the 1yr old will leave a few little hairs behind if she is sitting in your lap. They look like little eye lashes. They don't leave clumps of hair around like longer hair dogs or cats do.

      Gotcha.

At my parents house, they have three Beagles. Anytime someone knocks on the door, rings the doorbell, or even if the doorbell on TV is rang, they go nuts. Absolutely crazy. Bark, bark, bark, bark! It drives me crazy. But Beagles are not very obedient dogs, nor are they easy to train.

Also, how do they do in the summer/winter months? I have heard they don't do very well in the cold or in the hot. Guess that wouldn't be too much of a problem here in Seattle, because it is pretty mild temp.

Oh, and any big difference between males vs. females? Don't really know which I would get.

There was a beagle in the most recent training class I went to. It was an 8 week class and he was awful at the beginning, but he was like a different dog at the end of the class. He still didn't do things perfect, but he was just a puppy too. I could tell he wasn't going to be perfectly trained (neither are mine) but he definitely learned some manners.

Bostons are short haired dogs, so they aren't made to be "outside" dogs. Mine play outside most of the day but can come in when they want if they get too hot or cold. They really don't like the cold though. The rule I go with is if it is too cold for me to stay outside a long time in a T-shirt, the pups don't need to stay outside without a sweater or something too long. During the winter if it was too cold, I put a sweater on the dog when we went for a walk. But the weather here in Alabama doesn't really get that bad for that to happen often.

As for the heat, they do fine, but again they aren't dogs that are suppose to be outside only dogs. They have short smooshy noses, so when they get too hot or too tired like a long walk on a hot day, they'll start snorting like pigs because it's hard to breathe. That's when you take a break. That doesn't happen very often. You'll figure out how long is long enough for a walk with a Boston. Their smooshy faces also make them snore, quite loudly sometimes too, LOL.

The weather here in Alabama, really doesn't cause any trouble for them though. If they get too hot in the summer, they come inside and chill.

As for male and female, it's just a matter of choice. I like females, mainly because I prefer not to see their appendage hanging down all the time, LOL. But I have a boy and girl. Boys mark stuff, so you can to teach them not to do that. Mine has never marked anything inside, but he'll pee on a tree if he gets the chance. Neutering dogs helps with the marking of stuff if you get it done when they are young. Male dogs also hump, neutering can help that too if it is done early before it becomes habit. We'll probably have our boy pup fixed within the next couple months so he doesn't develop any habits.

As for girls, from what I've seen with the year I've had my dog, is that girls don't always get along well with other girl dogs. My dog trainer, who we're friends with outside of class, recommended we get a boy as a second dog because they seem to mix better, which was what I was noticing. But my girl dog is very socialized and gets along with other girl dogs, but sometimes they do get in little cat-fights

I think it is all a preference thing though. Both my dogs are very sweet to humans and each other.

I have a female Rottweiler who just turned 8. Best dog in the world. Probably the biggest sissy in the world too. She is a house dog and has been since day one. Their lifespan is 8-10 years old but I think she will go beyond that. She still acts like a puppy.

When I was in high school, my aunt who lived down the road from me had a Rotty. It was a great dog. We'd swim and wrestle all the time. I wanted one, but I just couldn't have a dog that big in a house! LOL

LOL I know, he does it better than his sister. She'll stay dead longer sometimes, but usually she pops up pretty fast. He's kinda lazy, so he doesn't mind playing dead and staying still longer. I wish I had a video of the girl dog playing dead from sitting up. She'll just fall straight over and you hear a thud on the ground. She just won't do it from a sit too often.

yeah, it's not that bad but you have to vacuum lots and keep them bathed etc.

I have a cocker spaniel that is a little over 5 1/2 years old. Really energetic dog and barks at nearly everything also. Anytime the doorbell rings he will start barking like crazy until someone answers it. He'll eat just about everything also. One time my family went out to my aunt's house for Thanksgiving, and we had our own turkey at our house to eat the next day. Well my mom leaves it on the counter, thinking it will be out of the dog's reach. While we are gone, my dog opens up one of the cabinets (it rolls and has shelves) he jumps on the shelf and pulls down and eats the ENTIRE turkey. When we get home all thats left is little bits and pieces of the turkey and it's bones throughout the kitchen. It was just like the scene from A Christmas Story.
