Makes me sick how the same teams suck year after year, especially in the NFL. The Jaguars, Raiders, Browns and Rams are always bad . I want to see a good team finally have a few crappy years, like the Packers, Patriots, Seahawks, etc. I don't see how the GM's of these bad teams get to keep jobs. If I was to suck at my job, I would get fired.

20-25 years ago all those teams sucked, or maybe I'm basing it on Tecmo Bowl. Don Majkowski, Steve Grogan, Dave Krieg... throw the Vikings (Wade Wilson?) in there and those were my favorite teams to exploit.

Yup...I watched the Pats go 1-15 and have like 4,000 people at games. The Seahawks have been abysmal for 95% of their history...the Packers were irrelevant for 30 years. This stuff is cyclical.

I wondered many times why Al Davis didn't fire himself.

You're pretty young then. Don't worry, it always is fully cyclical.

Except for the Browns. They just plain suck now.

The Raiders and Rams have both been to the Super Bowl in my lifetime. The Jags were very good in the late 90s and early 2000s with Brunell. The Browns were really good in the 80s, and were on the upswing when they moved to Baltimore. They have the misfortune of being the second most recent "expansion" team. They essentially had to start from scratch.

Not always. See the San Antonio Spurs. I know the NBA let's everyone and their mother into the postseason, but they've averaged a .597 win percentage per season for their entire history. They've been below .500 8 times, 5 of those happening between 83 and 89. Their one bad season since 1989 yielded one of the best players in NBA history. Otherwise, they had at least 47 wins every season ('99 would have yielded at least 50 if not 60 had it been 82 games), winning fewer than 50 games only twice. They were due a decade ago to fall off, and now with Aldridge, that's probably wishful thinking for at least a few more years. So although they were were bad once, it hasn't happened again yet, though it is probably inevitable.

I can't think of anyone else really that defies it.

                    I dunno.

I've seen some pretty mediocre folks at my job hold high-ranking positions who have proven long ago h/she is not apt to do the job.

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.

In the words of my manager "It's too difficult to be fired." Unless you do something blatantly against policy, it is just takes too much to go through the termination process and actually get rid of someone.

                        It's nearly impossible for me.

The easiest way for me to terminate someone is if they don't call and don't show up for two straight days. Legal found a way to make it so that can't be defended for unemployment claims.

                        Everything else though....

I agree completely and what I cant wrap my head around, how do law suits exist for firing? Another words say I open a business and hire someone. It's MY business so whats stopping me from firing you if "I just dont like you". Why do all these hoops have to get jumped through to terminate someone, blows my mind. It falls in that political correctness BS we currently have going on, I guess I just don't understand this current age we are in.

It's about paying unemployment, not lawsuits.

We have a guy on our team and he's just a useless waste of space. He recently went on leave for medical reasons... or that's his story. He hasn't bothered to contact the insurance company for disability and won't answer any calls from his manager or my manager (who is his 2-up). We've been trying to get rid of him for awhile and he might have finally fallen into the bucket of "job abandonment".

Colorado is an at-will state, which means that you can be fired for that reason... or any other reason. I'm not sure how that works with unemployment benefits.
