That doesn't bother me too much, but it's where it does it that's bothersome. Normally it's done during something with music playing in the background (a montage, an action sequence, a credits roll, etc). I almost wouldn't mind if they speed up the whole thing because then it's consistent, but they kind of just hit the FF button then let go, then hit it again then let go. It's most obvious because the music in the background changes its tempo.

Family Guy does this one some channel, though I forget which one. TBS maybe? Anyway it's done in the opening theme song, among other places.

I just think they can do this much better.
Sounds like "The Soap Opera Effect".

Better that than cutting out a scene or something to fit it into a syndicated timeslot. The only time I really notice speeding up is movies when the credits are sped up since credits go on for several minutes, so they just speed it up to happen in a minute or two(some channels go to splitscreen to air commercial during credits).

I notice some TV Shows got shortened intros too for similar reason. No point having a 30 second-1 minute intro on syndicated tv, so just cut down time by airing some 5 second clip instead.

Elvis Impersonator events. Why the 70's Elvis? That's the worst Elvis, in my opinion.

        This is Elvis:

This is not Elvis, it is a 2010 team owner Michael Jordan. Would you put that MJ on a statue and watch his highlights?

1969-1972 Elvis is the most campy and over the top, so it's just more fun as a costume imho.

Yeah, that's the thing about these guys pretend to be Elvis (which is even a bit later version than what you described) - they pretend to be just a certain Elvis with costumes, because if they tried to be a younger Elvis, no would would have known who they are supposed to be.

It's just sad that the older/fat Elvis is the more recognizable Elvis, the one you see all the time.

True, the Elvis people typically aim for is more or less Aloha From Hawaii onward. Giant 1970s sunglasses, practicing karate moves, visiting Nixon, etc.

You know what grinds my gears, people's fascination with Elvis. I don't get it, at all. As a youth I had to visit Graceland with my family. Arg.
