Slickly done advertising spots on twitch that tell me that because I have an interest in video games that I eat cheetos, drink mountain dew, and have a very specific sense of humor.

Then again in 2021 everybody and everything has to be boiled down to a simplistic level, with little room for nuance or original thought i guess. And people have to use the same jargon over and over, thanks to social media.

Also, people who view any snack or drink (or really anything in general) they dont like as a major issue, acting like anyone who lives their life different from said person is wrong even though it makes 0 impact on that person's life how someone else lives theirs.

Yes, chips and sugary drinks aren't healthy, but let's not act like it's being consumed multiple times a day and/or every day. Some people would prefer just eating what they want and enjoying stuff and dying in their 70s over eating much healthier, hating what they're eating/are missing out on, but living until their 80s.

Seriously. Food police are the worst.

I like MacDonald's and fast food. It's not health food. Everything in the world doesn't have to be healthy. It's a treat, and I view it as such. If you found new purpose in "eating clean", more power to you - I'm happy that you're happy. But you aren't the appointed missionary for clean-eating the world over.

Plus, if you get hit by lightning tomorrow, it probably won't matter that you deprived yourself of that slice of apple pie....

here's the thing, just because a certain food/drink isn't healthy for you, doesn't mean it necessarily has to be unhealthy. moderation in most anything is the key.

now, having said that, I have almost zero willpower, so moderation isn't normally in my vocabulary. it's actually a wonder I don't have diabetes or any other health issues. I can quite often take what would usually be a snack and make it into a full whole 'meal'.

Sure - point well taken. It's all about moderation, and everyone knows their own tendencies, so you have to adjust for your own best interest.

But your point is important: there's no such thing as "good" and "bad" food. It's food. Some is more nutritious than others, and of course we can all strive to be healthier. But if living longer means eating kale and brown rice for every meal, I'm not signing up for that.

That's a big problem I see in my regular life. People forcing their own ideas, opinions, lifestyles on others.

I live my life in the "Do whatever you want, as long as you dont negatively impact those around you" way. However people want to live their life, go ahead, but don't act like others should live theirs a specific way.

It bugs me even more when people not only act that way, but act like opinions are facts, or because they dont know people who do certain things, means nobody else does.

Moderation during Christmas is horrible. I dont care much for chocolates between February-September, but once Halloween rolls around, and moreso Christmas cookie/chocolate tins get handed out, that's the one time I won't have unhealthy things in moderation.

And also, theres a difference between good and bad things. Drinking some drink loaded with 15g of added sugar per cup isn't good, but drinking a 100% natural juice, no sugar added, but it still has 10g of sugar, is healthy. I've had people freak out about the amount of sugar in some things I drink, only for me to have to point out that its 100% NATURAL juice with NO SUGAR ADDED. You eat apples, it has natural sugars in it. How is pure apple juice any different? The number means nothing without context.

To be fair...kale and similar things can taste good.

Kale by itself, or a replacement in a salad instead of iceberg lettuce (yes, I know, iceberg lettuce has 0 nutritional value, but it tastes good and compliments a salad, burger or sandwich nicely) tastes gross. Similar with spinach.

For many years I hated spinach and kale and still kind of do. But when spinach is baked into other things (like a lasagna, pizza, or pastries) it actually tastes nice.

Same with kale. Have kale mixed in with cheese and some other things all blended up, and it tastes good.

But brown rice, whole grain bread, all those kinds of things, I hate them. I dont care about gluten free stuff, although I cant taste the difference so at least in that case, if things I eat ever get replaced with a GF version, I won't notice.

Having a burger is pointless if all I can taste is whole grain bread. People dont eat certain things because they want it to be as healthy as possible, they eat it because it tastes good, if its healthy too, it's a bonus.

Spinach and romaine are usually what we try to get for salads.

                          Sadly not all.

Like pineapple. I don't care if it's by itself or on pizza, I hate it either way.

Ironically I find things like peppers taste better by themselves than cooked up/on pizza.

The "let me tell you about how great my diet is" stuff is pretty funny. Sometimes it sounds like they trying to convince themelves as much as the other person. I say whatever works for you is cool. In my experience getting enough exercise can smooth out some of the rough edges of any diet. Except maybe the whole intermittent fasting thing. Anyone who is going 18-24 hours between eating is going through some level of pain lol.

Love pineapple - especially in the morning with some cottage cheese. Even better with some sliced strawberries thrown in.

I guess I'll be a better participant, seeing as I only post once every blue moon.

Pineapple included in anything besides assortments of other fruits should be shunned on. Pineapple and tomato paste have no right to be used in such a way that would be blasphemous to the pizza gods.
