It's illegal to park overnight or for extended hours, but I never see people get tickets for that. But if I were to do that for a few hours during the day if people are coming over and driveway space is needed, that'll be the one time they actually ticket cars.

If my neighbors have people over, I don't mind tbh. Dude just sat there for an hour.

That's the thing. Nothing wrong with people doing so if they're visiting someone.

I see people just use street parking as their own personal parking lot 24/7 and don't get tickets. Used to be a guy on my street who ironically had a tow truck company, and would park his tow truck on the street every night and all weekend long, using it as his own personal business parking lot. Somehow he never got towed himself (unless maybe someone called for a tow truck and it was his own company responsible for towing it....)

life's great mysteries, who do you call to have a tow truck towed away,
and how do you get the garbage pickup to haul off an old trashcan lol

I'm just picturing someone getting a call to tow a truck infront of a certain location, they show up, see that tow truck there, just assume that truck beat them to the job, and they just leave.

Does the neighborhood have driveways? The older urban neighborhoods with no driveways, that always stresses me out in the rare times I have to park in those situations. Are you not "supposed" to park in front of someone's house, is that their spot? But then, every spot on the street is in front of someone's house, so you really don't have a choice. What if you get parked in? What if there's some "no parking" sign I didn't see and I get towed? What if, what if, what if? Cities stress me out, too claustrophobic. I often go out of my way to find a free parking lot nearby, like a grocery store or something, then I'll just walk. I don't mind walking a few blocks.

Suburban neighborhoods are just loaded with annoying passive aggressive people doing passive aggressive things, I swear. I live in a smaller neighborhood, but things still pop up.

Not too long ago a random truck started parking partially in front of my yard. Pretty sure it was from a house way down the block. One week it was parked like 4-5 feet away from my garbage container, and my waste service didn't pick up my garbage because they have rules about having a minimum of clearance around the container. Thankfully it only happened one week, but that's just one of those weird problems that pop up. I try to just stay out of all of it.

Full driveways and my neighbor's driveway had plenty of space.

I had an older lady as a neighbor once that she could tell me what time I went to work, what time I came home, what time I went out to get my mail, what time the pizza guy came, etc. . I'm just thankful there is no HOA here.

Comedy Central airs every episode of Seinfeld save one:
                  The Puerto Rican Day

yet it has no problem showing any one of 300+ episodes of South Park.
                  go figure

I got no problem with South Park, but c'mon Comedy Central, throw me a freaking bone here.
show the Puerto Rican Day once a year, every second Sunday in June

Still? I know it wasn't initially in syndication but even that was changed at least 15 years ago now?

I've been DVR'ing them on DirecTV (and erasing & rerecording over & over countless times) the last 8 years and I think I saw it once or twice, 7 or 8 years ago, then zilch, TBS quit airing only that one episode. I can understand why TBS might not want to air it, but when Comedy Central picked it up last year or 2021, they made a big deal in their initial promos, ''every episode, shown right here on Comedy Central'' or something similar. but definitely they claimed the every episode part. but they have never aired it

Buy physical copies of the shows and movies you like.

It's not going to be cheap but it's the only way. Worst part is that even the physical copies get stripped, are beholden to music rights disputes, etc

                          This is still dumb.

I'm personally not buying these sodas as much anymore. I'll buy a Walmart Dr. Thunder to get me over and just drink water otherwise. They literally priced a consumer out of their product because they wanted to increase their bottom-line...it's not that I'm entitled but I'm sure there are many others just like me.

I'd love to see their price/mix analysis that says a higher price point is justified to get to whatever profit margin $ they feel is needed versus pushing a lower/flat price point for increased volume. A "deal" used to be 3/$4 or 4/$5 and now a "deal" is 2/$5 or a BOGO when the price is $2.79.

It feels like there is less competition and push to gain market share and more of "this is our consumer base" and getting more money out of us.

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.

At this point it feels like we aren't far away from ditching nickels and pennies altogether. What is even the point of those in 2023? Just find a way to round all totals to the next 10, or don't even monetize/price/tax things in smaller than 10 cent increments. Can't be that hard (says the dude who has no interest in actually figuring that out)

Not sure about nickels, but the idea of ditching pennies has been floating around for I think quite a few years now.

Heck, cash in general may be going by the wayside with all the pay apps nowadays. Since the pandemic started about the only thing I've used cash for it to add money to my laundry machine card.
