Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
When you pay for expedited shipping for a package, it's out for delivery on time, you wait ALL ******* DAY, AS TO NOT MISS THE DELIVERY....6 hours later you think: hmmm, this is taking longer than usual, lemme check the tracking. The tracking info says "The customer was not available on the 1st attempt. A 2nd attempt will be made." Go to the front door...no missed delivery notice....go to the mailbox, no missed delivery notice.
I call up UPS, calmly explain my situation to the lady, and she says she'll forward the complaint to "them" and "they'll" get back to me within the hour. Cool.
Thirty mins later, some dude calls and asks me if I want to come to the facility to pick up my package. I explain that I don't have a missed delivery slip, and he says that's fine as long as I have ID. Then he says "you can come pick up your package between 8 and 9:30 tonight" -- I say "wait, hold on, is it still on the truck?" he says "yes sir, it's still on the truck," so naturally, I ask "can't he just make another delivery attempt? I was here the entire time, I don't know how he magically missed me earlier AND!!! conveniently 'forgot' to leave a slip." Dude tells me "no, he's way-WAY far from you, and there's a heat wave, when there's a heat wave we give the drivers less work."
Now...I'm not insensitive to how uncomfortable it might be for a delivery man in a heat wave. But the UPS facility is almost an hour away, and I'm told that I have to wait over three hours just for the ability to pick up the package that was never brought to my house, the same package that I specifically paid to have shipped in an expedited fashion cause I won't even be here next week; and seeing as how the natural delivery date was next week, and the "2nd" attempt at a delivery is next week....I now have to sacrifice my friday night to go pick up something....that I paid to have delivered, to my front door, today.
Rant over. I gotta hit the road.Ohio State - Reds - Bengals - Blackhawks - BullsComment

"This was basically my first time in LA, so Junior and Amir took me out drinking on Sunset strip. We ended up at a famous bar called Dubliner (which is now closed), and after about an hour or two there, I came to a conclusion that would basically never change, even after I lived in LA for two years: Most people in LA are soulless. I don't mean that they are evil or bad people necessarily (though many are); I mean that with the vast majority of LA people I met that night (and since), there was no "there" in there. They were nothing more than empty shells of human beings, devoid of emotional content, empathy, or substance of any sort."Originally posted by bradtxmaleI like 6 inches. Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
FedEx comes at random times, if at all, and has done the "phantom missed delivery" described earlier. Often FedEx doesn't even bother knocking or ringing the doorbell, they don't even bother walking up the 3 steps on my porch, instead just tossing the box up there.Comment

I'm going to assume this quote from a Tucker Max book is pretty accurate:

There is NOTHING in the typical Los Angeles resident. Make-believe, just like the industry that brought so many people to Los Angeles to begin with. And there's nothing special either. The love for teams is superficial. There are no "must-have" foods aside from In-N-Out (and that's all across CA and in AZ, NV, and TX now) It's a factory of drones.Comment

Wow. It's like peering into my mind. Absolutely soulless. There is no SUBSTANCE.

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
Yeah, there might be. Lots of people have moved here like my family did and have been transformed into the drones I speak of. Hell, some within my family.
I was talking to the girl who cut my hair yesterday and she said she's from Chicago and hates it here. Her and her husband came here for his work and he hates it too. Voiced the same opinions I do, lol.
Needless to say, I was impressed and enamored, because she was smokin' hot too.Comment

If you hate it so much, why stay? I highly doubt there is a job that can only be done in LA, and nowhere else. Even in the entertainment industry, there are good positions in several other places.
