Today I was waiting for an elevator and a girl came along. When the elevator got there I said politely "after you" to the girl. But she just gives me a weird look, rolls her eyes and goes into the elevator. Bitch, I'm trying to be a gentleman, Im not trying to hit on you lol.

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
When people bitch about not being able to stand up at a basketball game. Why the hell do you think they have seats? Sure, I could understand last minute or two or after a big play. But with 5 minutes left in the 1st quarter, sit your *** down. People aren't paying $30,000 to have your *** waving in their face (referring to the Heat game; even if I paid $50, I'd like to be able to see in comfort, not craning back and forth to see around you). If you want to stand for the whole time, save you some money and get standing room only.
And that dude proved his douchiness even more. I understand completely following other teams, but when you openly admit you started watching a team because yours sucked, that just so happens to have been to 3 Finals in 3 years, yea, lame. He mentioned something about cheering for the hometown team. That Warriors jersey just shows the bandwagon of Miami. Every team has them, but theirs seem to be much much worse.Last edited by Redacted01; 06-23-2013, 08:20 AM.Comment

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
Exactly, I purposely avoid holding doors for attractive chicks anymore because they just shake their head, or dismiss it and they never keep the door open for you... Obviously if they are right there and we walk out at the same time I still will but I never understand why so many females misconstrue a guy being polite to them, as us trying to hit on them?Minnesota Vikings

They key to holding doors open is to not make eye contact.
By showing it is an act removed from any personal judgement of why you held the door open...you remove the majority of any social awkwardness of accepting kindness from a stranger.
And failing that, if you are not looking at them...you take away their opportunity to annoy you or show their ingratitude when they lack social graces.
Very rarely will the type you describe risk public ridicule by verbalizing their attempts to act superior or cast doubt on your intent.
Just my adviceComment

I plan my haircuts so that I can go directly home, throw the clothes I am wearing in the wash with my next load, and take a shower. I don't get how people do a cut during lunch.Comment

Haha, I hear that, I'm weird about it. I cut my own hair, and when I shower after the trim I don't want to get those hairs in my towel, since I use the same towel for 2 or 3 showers. I keep a shark vac in the bathroom and literally vacuum my head after a cut to get all the little fragments that don't shake outWolverines Wings Same Old Lions Tigers Pistons Erika ChristensenComment

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
Maybe this is better suited for "uncommon opinions" but I don't understand why holding a door for someone is such a big deal. It's a door! It takes minimal effort to pull a handle. I know the retort is "it's the principle" or "it's polite", but why? I remember a time I was 15 ft behind my step mom walking towards a building, she stopped at the door and stood there. I stopped behind her, thinking something was wrong, and she just looked at me. I said "what?", and she gave me a rude response about how a gentleman would've opened the door for a lady. My first thought was "yeah that's why I didn't open the door", but of course I'm not gonna say thatWolverines Wings Same Old Lions Tigers Pistons Erika ChristensenComment

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
Yea, same for me. My girlfriend actually just cut my hair today. I sit out in the backyard in a chair and let her buzz it all off, that way I can hop right in the shower afterwards. It was a humid day today too, so things got pretty stickyComment
