Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
I suppose I should have been more clear.
Yes, that's the purpose of a group text, but this is not a group text situation. It was a mass text just to let everyone know about an event. "Hey guys, hanging out and playing bags at 4!"
I got like 10 texts that were essentially RSVPs sent to my phone, like I said in my OP. Like shug said, I'm assuming these people just don't understand that they are replying to everyone when they say "Yeah!" or "Sorry, can't make it"University of Minnesota Golden Gopher Hockey

Blame the phone... rather, blame Apple. I have people with iPhones send me mass texts and then I get a half dozen replies from random numbers. I send out a mass text (on Android), and I've verified: no one gets random messages from other people; just me. I don't know if it is a setting or what.Comment

I say blame the person being lazy and sending out a mass text.Comment

So did we all just forget the point of group texting or what? People who use it wrong are the problem.Last edited by kingkilla56; 06-28-2013, 09:30 PM.Comment

If someone sends a text to a group that says
"Party starts at 5 PM text me if you can make it"
You only reply to the person who sent the text.
There are group chats that people all talk together but if it is like my message above you don't text back everyoneBuffalo Bills

No we didn't

I never knew this was such an issue to be honest.
Any group message I've ever been a part of has been a group message for a reason but to be fair I've never been part of a group message sent out to a bunch of people about a party or something like that.Comment

When I get a group message that needs my response I type response text to the message that was sent to me, I've never taken the time to pull up the individual who sent me the text and do a seperate one.

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
Except on Outlook (at least), reply is the standard. Reply all you have to go out of your way to do. You'd think it would be that way with messages sent to more than 1 person. I know mine you have to go into the settings before you respond to reply to all instead of just the original sender.Comment

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
I shouldn't have to go through a multi step process to reply.
In Outlook there are ways to set it up so that the reply all doesn't work. So that is on the sender too.Comment

If I'm sending a text to 20 different people I'm not going to go one by one. It's much easier for the person receiving the text to reply to the sender only then for me to send 20 texts outBuffalo Bills
