My little brother once printed out that face and put it on the back of a box of empty Fruity Pebbles that he was keeping in the cupboard to trick people into thinking we had some still.

    ******* kid, man.

Yesterday my Calculus teacher specifically told us that 2 types of problems would not be on the test. So, I didnt waste my time studying those types of problems. I sat down to take my test today, and those two types of problems were on the test.

Now, the problems we are doing takes some time to do so there were only 5 questions on the test, so its likely I will only get 3 out of 5 right, which is obviously a failing grade.

Freaking infuriating. Look, I dont care if he tells us what concepts are on the test or not. Im not stupid. I can look at my notes and see what we have covered. But to specifically mess us all up by lying to us is simply wrong.

Im gonna talk to him tomorrow. Was thinking about going to the Principle, but I don't want to go that far without giving him a chance to explain himself.

lol ya. Similar things always happen to me. Teacher tells people study certain things and not to study other things, but by time the test happens, some stuff they told you to study isn't on it, and other things they said not to study is on it.

Did anyone else in your class complain? If so, maybe you all should ask that teacher about it.

Yeah, I talked to three kids after the test and texted four more, they all said the same thing and I guess we'll talk to him in class tomorrow like lol

LMAO, you guys haven't learned yet? When someone tells you what NOT to look, that means you look at that, and learn it. Oldest trick in the book.

Majority of the times, they do tell the truth, but there's still a number of times where they basically lie.

Or they'll be like "Don't worry about ___ so much,it's just 1 question on this test" and that 1 question is worth so much. It happened to me on my most recent test. I got about 80% on it, but about 15% I didn't get was from 1 question the teacher told the class not to worry much about

That's normally the rule, but this is the 2nd year Ive had this guy. He hasn't tried to do something like that yet so I thought he told it straight instead of playing mind games lol

That's also partly why I want to talk to him before getting the man in trouble, he might have just had a brainfart.

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?

At least for me, there always seems to be 4-5 stand out categories for teachers.

The teachers people love that are also good teachers
The teachers people love but aren't that great of a teacher
The teachers people don't care much for(regardless if they're good or bad)
The teachers people hate but are a great teacher
The teachers people hate who are horrible teachers

lol, there was this one teacher I had, who could barely explain stuff to the class when people asked him. He really gave off that "pushy salesmen" vibe when he was talking about his old job and the lengths he went to in order to try and get people to buy stuff.

Another one I had, for the entire semester I basically thought he hated me(cause he always called me out in class(cause I used a laptop to take notes(it was allowed though)) but it took until the last day of class before I finally found out that he actually liked me(and gave me a much higher mark on a presentation that I did horrible on)

When choosing teachers each semester, I'm always torn between getting a teacher I like, but at a class time I hate, or getting a teacher I don't know, at a time I like. Cause teachers I like, their classes are always either the first class of the day, or the last class of the day. I think the school KNOWS these teachers are popular and intentionally put their classes at the times that people are less likely to choose, in hopes that more people choose those times.

lol, I used that(and the teachers one) before, but I stopped using it once people had to sign in or something to use it(I believe they do,cause I remember it asking me to sign in when rating a teacher).

Me and my friends left funny(but still real good) comments about one of our teachers(didn't really have much to do with him) and one day he read it and got all confused(cause it was abit of an inside joke) but once we explained abit of the joke, he got it.

I see where you have a problem, but this is also exactly why when I'm teaching my own classes I'm going to say "anything is fair game."

Everything in my classes is going to be far different, though. If my curriculum makes students ask: "What's going to be on the test?" I'm doing something wrong. Just like one of my softball players asking: "Am I going to be able to play this game?" Some things are just not supposed to be asked. Nothing I do is without reason, as well as what I say in class.

That being said, it's a shame he "lied" to you, but maybe that was a test within itself. A weird one, but perhaps that's his "principle" behind it all as well. But again, I can see why it grinds your gears.

My gear-grinder is students who study for a test only to forget the stuff two weeks later. What the hell did I test you on, then? That's kind of where I see your teacher has an argument... you would have remembered something only for as long as you needed to, and perhaps that's not a valid enough argument.

To be fair, students have lots of diff classes they need to memorize stuff for, all tests/exams usually around the same time, so it's more about just knowing stuff for a test than it is actually learning the material. In the end, all that matters is the grade, not what they actually know.

That's the problem, and I'll just leave it at that.

I seriously get furious over this attitude. Unfortunately, this is 99.9% of students. I don't blame them either... this is how education builds them. I want to challenge the status quo as a teacher and flip all curricula around.

It's mostly cause of what is expected of people, it's never about what they know, it's what the grade on their test/exams/assignments say.

Some people could get 90% on tests/exams and stuff, but it doesn't mean they know the stuff better than someone who got a 70%, it just means they're better at memorizing stuff.
