Actually, screw what I said earlier, it's time to admit I'm too damn old to understand trolling. Last night on a baseball forum I got trolled by a kid who xFIP FIP FIP's himself to sleep every night. His goal was to tell me Phil Coke doesn't suck.

Just an idiot. Even by any stretch of the imagination using every single advanced metric known (and unknown) to man... Phil Coke is nowhere close to above average. He's lucky to sniff average.

He's had 1 season (2012) you could, I guess, consider above average and a whole slew of pretty damn poor seasons (note: This isn't including his original stint with the Yankees when he got a cup of coffee in 08.)

He's not an idiot of a troll, he's just wrong. Coke has a well above average career FIP (14% so), and that's probably what he was looking at. However, Coke has consistently low HR/FBs without being a big groundball pitcher and in a not-so-great- sample size, so you should be looking at xFIP and ERA, in which he's below average.

Probably just a rookie mistake by a guy who's new to the advanced stats.

People complaining about the new name for Rangers Ballpark. I really think people have no idea Global Life paid for a sponsorship and just think the Rangers decided to come up with some new name for the ballpark because the organization loves the planet and life.....

Exactly. Phil Coke sucks at the eye test, sucks at the conventional numbers test, AND is "below average" to quote ACMilan (honestly I'm posting from Tapatalk in class...didn't really have the resources to go look at them and make my own judgments, but I assume Milan is right on with advanced stats as he always is) in his advanced stats. Anyone who thinks he's a good pitcher clearly is a fan of the Indians, Twins, White Sox, or Royals. Because he's given them so much joy in the years he's been with Detroit.

When playing NBA 2k(any year), and the CPU offensive logic seems to break down, leaving the ballhandler to just stand at the 3 point line for 20 seconds until the shot clock winds down, then with less than a second left he just pulls up (fully contested) and knocks it down every time. I don't get it. If I was the CPU I'd just do this every time, it always works
