I don't think it's stupid... it's just not really a big deal for me.

The annoying people are the ones who have to go out of their way to tell everyone how they think it's a stupid holiday. Some people obviously enjoy it, who are you to go out of your way to crap on something that some people might enjoy?

Valentine's day doesn't matter at all to me, nor do anniversaries for the most part, but that's not why I celebrate them.

We still remind each other when it's the 9th of the month (day we started dating). Not that we do anything for them, well if we happen to have a drink or make a dinner we just label it as an "anniversary" drink or meal. It's been 7 year and 2 months now... Damn

Does your girl get you anything on V-Day? I mean besides the goods...

Mine loves to give presents so I usually get something. Like I'll probably get a bag of candy or something like that. So it's not a bad little day.

I use to be the jerk who would comment on how Valentines day was nothing but a marketing holiday and blah, blah, blah. And while I still see it that way, it means something to my fiance so I've learned to embrace the day as one to celebrate us. So that's what we do. We celebrate us. It's a lot easier to make sense of the holiday that way.

I always take the "it is what it is" approach with Valentine's Day. Was a great day when I was younger and single. Awesome night out to pick up girls. Bars and clubs were always packed.

If I happened to be in a relationship it was an excuse to go out for a nice meal. Never put much effort into gift giving, though. Like the whole chocolate and flowers thing. Always felt giving flowers meant more when giving them on a random day as a surprise.

This Valentine's Day will be perfect. Spending a night at home watching movies and Netflix with my daughter and fiancee. Nice and simple.

It GMG when people go out of their way to make it sound like they found their soulmate etc etc on Valentine's Day like they are the happiest couple on the planet but...in reality they aren't.

We have some friends like this. The female posts all these super positive facebook posts but complains to my girlfriend about the marriage.

It's a Great Lakes thing. My fiance is from Chicago and was shocked when I didn't know what she was talking about. It's basically a 2nd Valentines.

Yeah, she does love giving gifts. My Valentine's day gift from her this year involves a hotel room and a surprise lingerie outfit. Need I say more?
